Allegro made me an offer that was a little lower than some others but I accepted for the convenience of their collection service and strong customer ratings. Having packed up my digital piano and moved it to the ground floor of my building at Allegro's insistence, despite having a paralysed hand, the 2h collection window came and went. I had to haul the piano - literally singlehandedly - back up the stairs to my flat. The driver arrived more than 2 hours late and then wouldn't provide a collection slip for the piano. He was late, wasn't in a uniform, and refused to show me his work ID. All of this made me worry it was a scam collection, which I explained to the driver, but he offered no reassurances whatsoever. Considering the item's value, I wasn't happy to proceed with the collection. As soon as I closed my door, the driver loudly shouted "c*nt" through it and slammed the door to the building. I raised this incident with Allegro to arrange another collection window and make them aware of their contractor's actions. They were mildly apologetic while defending the courier as a company they've worked with for years. Another three 2h collection windows were booked with the same courier. Despite being present for each one, no one called to collect the piano. No one phoned me to double check if I was home either. On the morning of the fourth collection booking, I emailed Allegro confirm the collection and say I'd be home. The collection slot came and went. Allegro responded at the end of the day to essentially say they believed the courier's version of events (which was never relayed to me) and I'd have to arrange collection myself and they would add £15 to the purchase price. Unlike the courier company and driver, I have nothing to gain from skewing the facts. The whole thing was hassle from start to finish even without vague accusations of lying and being called a c*nt. Overall, this was a truly bizarre and unpleasant experience.

Thanks for your review Aiden. We feel it only fair to point out that you approached us to purchase your Piano, the decision to do that was totally yours. We buy Pianos everyday of the week and never, and we really do mean never has our courier of over ten years sent a message back about a collection with such a strong message of shock of how they were treated. Of course we know everything is subjective, and whilst you have given us a one star review, we feel other customers will look at that review against the rest we have and draw their own opinions.

Had to wait nearly 4 weeks for payment for an item sold to Allegro. needed email and a number of phone calls. Not impressed

They now only stock one brand of electric guitar and seem reluctant to sell anything ...used to be a really great place to shop

Looked online for a small bass amp....but they don't have any amps at all. Guitar shops in Romford and Clacton on Sea allow customers to just walk into shop....no appointment needed. Shop always looks closed when you walk by. Shop by appointment notice makes customers feel that they are not wanted!

The Chelmsford branch still hasn't opened post-Covid - it's appointments only, which is no good for people who just happen to be in the town centre. I like to support local shops but I've given up with Allegro and I either buy my guitar stuff when I'm up in London or get it online. They're the last music shop left in the town, so it's a shame they are never open.

Abysmal customer service. Manager just doesn't care about the customer. Be aware that you have to pay for any returns even if the item is faulty. REALLY unfair and I am not at all happy. The Manager is patronising, arrogant and totally disinterested.

Weird and creepy shop and staff/owners. Visited four times in two years during normal working hours and only ever been allowed in once. Shop seems never to be open except for pre-booked music lessons, so if you are looking for musical inspiration, a spontaneous purchase/gift, or any purchase for that matter, go somewhere else/online. Music shops are already in very short supply, so if you’re not interested in helping and selling to customers, don’t masquerade as a shop and waste people’s’ valuable journey and free time.

Absolutely awful. No customer care, took no responsibility for Piano that was not delivered. No one answering shop phone or warehouse phone. Very very poor. Buy from somewhere else that cares

Allegro agreed to buy a second hand organ from me and they sent a purchase invoice and arranged a date for collection. Then they pulled out of the purchase, claiming they thought it was a different (and much more expensive) model than what they agreed to buy, despite the fact that they had had a photo and full description of the actual organ. Beware if you are trying to sell something to them: they either don't know the product or are dishonest.

I ordered a Yamaha psr s970 from the website for my son for his birthday however then got an email that it had a fault so they wanted to swap with something totally different .I had to ask for a refund which I’m waiting for and had a highly disappointed and upset son as well. Why are the products checked for fault before putting it for advert!

Ordered concert ukelele and bundle with bag and tuner. Could not get website to work to add bundle. Called Sunday, then had to call back three times more to get a response. Finally sorted Wednesday but bundle price went up from displayed £10 to £17.50, but did get a discount of £1.60! Uke came direct from manufacturer in two days. Over a week and still waiting for bag and tuner via Royal Mail. Need tuner to set up, uke still in box. This week I've had other items from Denmark in 3 days, from Lancashire in less than 21 hours. I live in Suffolk and Allegro Music is in next county, Essex. Not impressed by lack of promised call backs, increased price against displayed or shop delivery service.

Everything seemed great and went smoothly in the choice and purchasing. Had an email soon after the order to say that it would be delivered within 2-4 working days, which was great! Unfortunately that was Monday. It’s now Saturday and I’m disappointed to say that it hasn’t arrived within its time frame, as it was the main present for my sons Birthday tomorrow.

Sold product they advertise but then told pay extra for upgrade. Never turned up within the 2-4days told turned up 7 days after and 1 parcel opened. When spoken about this showed no effort just said at least it's there now

Any company that will actually offer you a payment for a Good review has to be questionable...and indeed they are...I would rather be honest and follow my principles.

I asked for quote for a used Tyros 5, with my Tyros 3 as part exchange...someone named Ollie gave me a quote of £1799....now considering that is the actual price quoted for the Tyros I was interested in buying...I was offered a completely inflated price and can only assume that this "Ollie" wanted my Tyros 3 for free. Will never use such a company represented by such incompetence again.

DO NOT ORDER FROM ALLEGRO MUSIC! We ordered a guitar from Allegro music back in February for my sons birthday in March. The guitar ordered was in stock on the Allegro website. Once the order was placed we were informed that the guitar was actually out of stock but it would be ordered for us. Anyway this is a long story which I will summarise- delay after delay with no communication then it was held in customs but would be straight to Allegro once cleared, then it was actually going to a UK supplier before going to Allegro, then some more delays. It cleared customs and was due to arrive at supplier by the end of the week, 2 weeks later and it still had not been received by supplier. 5 months later my son still has no birthday present and we finally cancelled the order. Allegro music is a company that will blame manufacturers, customs, supply companies and delivery companies but will accept no responsibility for what could have been prevented by an up to date website, and regular communication. Don’t use them. We have now ordered a guitar from Thomann with the high customer service you would expect from a sales company, guitar is due for delivery in 3 days. Angry Parents! Disappointed but very patient 12 year old!

Ordered and paid for a ‘stock item’ on 18th October. Promised contact re delivery on 7th November but no contact received. Rang on 9th November and was promised a call back following day but no call received.

the people in the allegro music firm chelmsford are extremely condescending and rude. they expect every single person who comes into the shop to know everything about their instrument inside out. i went into the shop to buy a guitar and i was treated very rudely making it seem that they didn't take me seriously despite the fact i was about to buy a guitar close to a £1000. every time it seems an adult is about they completely change and clearly don't take teenagers and younger people seriously. i'm absolutely disgusted at this and i think its a joke. i will never ever purchase from this shop again but i will simply go to the shop and try out the things i want to buy elsewhere. don't feed this company and their greed by buying from them.

Digital piano advertised on website, I ordered piano over Internet only to be told a day later that they had already sold it. Obviously did not update the website. They made an offer of another one for an extra £120. I did not take them up on poor offer. Customer relations is rubbish! Trading Standards may be interested in this one. Have not had my money back yet!
