Returning customer, made an appointment over the phone for a gait analysis and bio mechanical assessment. I travel from Reading, so checked the model of trainer I wanted was in stock and was assured of this. Turned up at 12: staff were busy and someone else in an appointment. Wasn’t informed of this beforehand or how long wait would be - instead member of staff acted as if I didn’t need assessment as I had had it before. Was given trainers to try - not the Brooks model I wanted, as they were not in stock. This was surprising given the assurance from the day before. Received no technical insight from staff member, only a poor sales tactic you’d expect of Sport Soccer, not a specialist shop. Could have ordered shoes in with 7-10 day lead time, but I can receive the same service just ordering online for cheaper. Extremely disappointed - I try to support companies like Alexandra Sports as they provide an important, specialist service - one usually worth travelling for. Doubtful I’ll make another appointment.

Unfortunately, the assessment I had was not helpful at all. They used a walking pressure test and a barefoot running test, then used that to suggest I land heavy on my heels. When running in shoes, however, my gait is completely different to walking and I don't heel strike at all. Barefoot running a few steps across a shop and/or walking back and forward don't predict how a person will run in shoes, which should be obvious to anyone who analyses running mechanics. This does not constitute a gait analysis. That said, the main reason I went in was to figure out my correct shoe size. They said I had 'unusually' wide feet and didn't have a single shoe in any style or brand that would fit me. Despite being unable to sell me shoes or even order them for me, they still took my 'deposit' for having my feet measured. It was a waste of money and, I think, quite dishonest. The store has a good reputation, so I was surprised to have this experience.

Disappointing. Portsmouth staff member unenthusiastic and disengaged. Portsmouth branch had ZERO trainers in my (very average) size/pronation support. Was given a pair to try that were bigger than the size identified by my gait analysis (and didn't have pronation support either) - staff member didn't admit this until I said they felt too big. Also went to Winchester branch - trainers had not been set aside for me as promised. The trainers I tried on there were pronounced 'fine' fit-wise by the bored-seeming and uninterested staff member - they were not fine - way too tight as I need a wide and deep toe box. I also wasn't offered the opportunity to run in the trainers - on previous visits this has been standard and very useful. I won't be shopping at Alexandra Sports again.

Never received x2 heel raises that I ordered one week ago. No email sent from the company to even say they’d been delivered. Obviously lost in transit!
