“Not nice at all. Poor imitation of my beloved Lapsang Tea. Horrible aftertaste. Why mess with the original? I’ve been a loyal customer for three decades, but no longer.”
“I totally agree with the other comments made by those who have been disappointed with this new 'distinctively smoky' blend. It does not come close to replacing your Lapsang Souchong which we have been drinking for years (we often combine it with Earl Gray to make our own smoky blend). The main question I have is "why?"! I always thought Twinings was about providing specialist teas and so to dispense with such a distinctive and classic blend seems to be a very backward step. Please bring it back!”
“Have to agree with everyone else. This is not Lapsang Souchong. Used to drink several cups a day but not drinking this stuff. I have already ordered an alternative on line and if it is good that will be a permanent change.”
“Absolutely disgusting ! Recently had to buy this product as neither Sainsubry's or Morrisons had the genuine Lapsang. Have drunk and enjoyed this for 40+ years.
Managed about 1/4 cup before pouring the remainder down the sink. No resemblance to the Lapsang taste and as other have mentioned leaves a nasty aftertaste! The remaining 79 T'bags are now recycled - all that they are good for. Its just as well there are other suppliers of Lapsang - so that you can still enjoy that distinctive flavour.
Shame on you Twinings !!”
“This is a complete different taste to Lapsang and I’m so very disappointed that this is the replacement. I won’t be buying again and am now looking for an alternative supplier of lapsang tea”
“This new tea is truly horrible. A sour taste rather like (I imagine) drinking a bonfire that has plastic in it. PLEASE bring back proper Lapsang Souchong tea!! You have already degraded the flavour of your once-lovely Earl Grey tea - reinstate real Lapsang Souchong asap please.”
