“I give it 1 star as I can't give it no stars. I am just so disappointed. I read that Twinings were, for some reason, discontinuing my favourite Lapsang, which I've drunk for years; raced to the supermarkets to try to get some before it all went. None. Instead, this so-called Distinctively Smoky - a disgrace. It isn't smoky and certainly isn't distinctive - apart from its horrid, chemical-like flavour. Tried one bag and have thrown the rest of the packet away. No way am I ever going to have this again. Twinings, you should be ashamed of yourselves and should reconsider . I would pay more to have the proper Lapsang back.”
“I have been drinking Lapsang for many years. My children all drink it too. Having moved abroad a number of years ago, I have continued to order it directly from you, along with other teas. Luckily, I ordered eight boxes in March. This new blend is vastly inferior and I will not be buying it. Thankfully, I have found another source for the blend which is similar enough. What a foolish decision you have made.”
“Having loved the original lapsang tea for many years, this is completely different and really unpleasant. Please return to the old blend which was delicious.”
“What the heck? The shelves started to run out of actual Lapsang Souchong, only to be replaced by this monstrosity. How can a brand this big make an error this huge? Not only is the taste (initial smell, first taste, after taste) inferior, but they have had the cheek to re-use the Lapsang Souchong branding to confuse purchasers. True, it only says "inspired by" - perhaps in the same way a fine dinner inspires a subsequent turd?”
“This tea is awful - I have a box of tea bags that are only fit for the bin - I certainly can't drink the tea. It tastes terrible. Lapsang suchong was my absolute favourite tea in the world and I drank several cups per day. I am so sad it has been discontinued - what were you thinking of Twinings - please bring it back. Get rid of this sub-standard substitute Distinctively Smokey - it is truly terrible.”
