“I’ve been drinking Twinings Lapsang Souchong for decades, every day. Their substitute, Distinctively Smokey is awful and distinctly undrinkable. What have you done Twinings? Lost the plot and now lost another faithful customer.”
“I thought at first that Twinings had just repackaged their Lapsang tea bags. What a shock I got when I tasted it. There is a definite taste of tar. It made me feel quite sick. I drink very weak tea so goodness knows what a full strength cup would taste like. What a waste of money. My husband bought me 2 packets and only one teabag has been used. As a previous reviewer has said. Raise the price but don’t ruin the tea. Twinings told me they were having difficulty in sourcing ingredients. I think this was not true, after all what else is there to source but tea !”
“If I could give ZERO stars I would given that. The only tea I drank was Lapsang Souchong and this is not “new Smokey tea” is not that. Nor is it a nice flavour. Won’t be buying any Twinnings tea again unless they bring back the original Lapsang Souchong.”
“I have enjoyed Lapsang Souchong for many years. So disappointed when this tea was all we could find. Doesn’t taste anything like Lapsang and was so horrible and artificial tasting I couldn’t finish my first (and last) cup.”
“Absolutely revolting. Tastes nothing like Lapsang Souchong, don’t be fooled by the attempt to package it in a similar style. It’s so disgusting I can’t even finish the packet, I’ll be driving to Waitrose tomorrow to buy their own brand of actual Lapsang Souchong. This was a poor decision by Twinings, bring back the proper stuff!”
“Had my first cup of distinctly smokey, its nothing like lapsang. Very disappointed, it's like a smoked builders tea. Only 40 in a box too, thank goodness. Or shall
I chuck them!”
“As a regular Lapsang customer, very disappointed with the replacement. I will simply look elsewhere in future, another lost customer. Does anyone like it?”
