“Not remotely like Lapsang Souchong tea. Nothing naturally smoky about it! I don't know the process used in its manufacture but the aroma is reminiscent of BBQ fire lighters. Obviously I've not tasted fire lighters but I can imagine the taste may be similar to this nasty blend. A nearly full box straight in the bin.”
“Extremely disappointing replacement for Lapsang Souchong! The taste was disappointing enough for me to go to the trouble of visiting the Twinings website to leave a review. Bring back Lapsang Souchong, please!”
“I absolutely loved the Lapsang Souchong tea Twinings used to provide, however this replacement is truly disgusting and undrinkable. It smells bad and tastes bad. This one to avoid like the plague. If sourcing of the Lapsang Souchong is an issue, hopefully this can be resolved in time and my favourite tea is reintroduced”
“Just awful. One cup and the rest went in the bin. I was tempted into buying this because of the suggestion that it was like Lapsang souchong. It is absolutely not.”
“Horrible stuff, smells like an ashtray. Then no flavour until the old ashtray comes back in the aftertaste. Couldn’t drink it. Crying for my proper Lapsang.”
“I've just tried this for the first (and definitely the last) time. After Lapsang Souchong, this is abysmal. The entire pack went into the rubbish after the first try. What on Earth were Twinings thinking? I use many of their other types of tea but it's hard to believe that this comes from the same company. Disappointed is putting it mildly.”
“I love Twinings Lapsang tea and accidentally bought this as the packets have been made to look alike.
That is where the similarities end. Taste wise it is horrible. Carbolic taste which lingers leaving nasty aftertaste. If you like smokey tea - buy the proper Lapsang Suchong.”
