“I used to love Lapsang Souchong, and bought this (which was on offer) without noticing the name change. Unfortunatley not only has the name changed, the flavour is now repulsive. I will be thowing these away unfortunately as it tastes horrible. Bad move Twinings, shame on you! Bring back proper Lapsang Souchong and stop selling this rubbish.”
“Thisis just awful. Having finally run out of the real lapsang I thought I ought to try this but after a couple of cups I wish I hadn't wasted my money. No wonder it was half price. I wholeheartedly agree with what most of the other reviewers have said. The 'distinctly smoky' flavour reminds me of a really smelly bonfire, and there is an unpleasant after-taste. I can only assume that you gave the blending and tasting job to some work experience students on a Friday afternoon!”
“Hi.
Bought this ( from Waitrose) for my wife who has been drinking Lapsang for years.
She has found it an awful replacement. Have had to dump the rest of the tea bags.”
“Distinctively Smokey is not a patch on the product in replaces, Lapsang Souchong. The production appears to have changed from an authentically smoked tea to a black tea with artificially enhanced Smokey flavouring. This leaves the tea unbalanced and the Smokey flavour is not integrated into the tea.
What was a lovely product is now pretty poor.”
“Horrible. I've drunk Lapsang souchong for most of my adult life. This, which has replaced it, is nothing like it. The smokiness is horribly artificial tasing and too dominant. Just bad. I’ve given up and switched to a rival brand.”
