“I wondered what had happened to my tea bags - were they out of date or adulterated by a cleaning product? Then I realised they had been replaced by something else, something that carried the faint aroma of old cigarette and the taste of one. Please bring back the old product, I'll willingly pay extra!”
“I absolutely HATE this tea it is UNDRINKABLE. It really is an INSULT to anyone who like Lapsang Souchong tea. What is in the tea that gives it this disgusting tase as Twinnings has not got an added ingredient listed. I will never buty any Twinnings tea again. What is the reason for this abomination ? I found out that the EU have made a diktat on smoked food and drink. Could it be to do with that. However in UK we are NOT in the EU now. But hey thats probably why they have made this disgusting stuff not that they are saying.”
“I bought this thinking that it was the old Lapsang Souchong with a new label. It definitely isn't. This new replacement blend has an unpleasant smell and an unpleasant aftertaste with only a vague nod towards the smokey flavour of Lapsang. I thought that I might get used to it but I find it undrinkable. Such a shame. I can't imagine who made the decision to do this, or why.”
“I loved your Lapsang tea but unable to find it I thought I'd give this one a try. It's really horrible, smoky but with a distinctively unpleasant taste. One sip was enough, its going in the bin. I wish you'd bring back your original Lapsang even if the cost has to be higher. Can't believe this product is marketed as an alternative to Lapsang, or marketed at all.”
“I know there have been some less than positive reviews of this tea but we love it. I have always been a fan of smokey tea and typically buy Smokey Earl Grey from Fortnum's. This tea however has an even more marked smokey flavour and a lot of character. Like Marmite, you will either love it or hate it and we love it.”
“Nasty. If you wiped a plate of smoked salmon remnants on to a dish cloth and left to steep with a black tea bag for a minute in your cup...you get the idea. Not exactly refreshing”
“As a Lapsang Souchong fan, and having travelled to the UK for a short trip to stock up, I purchased 2 boxes. Expecting the smoky smell when I opened the foil packaging, nothing! And when I tasted it..disgusting toilet water!! Seriously Twinings..why? Please go back to the previosly amazing product that we all loved, so I am now forced to go elsewhere as a result, probably Waitrose. Terrible decision and please..please..please reverse it and restore your previous product.”
