“I loved Lapsang Souchong but this is undrinkable. It’s nothing like its predecessor.
Please bring back the original. Until then I will need to go elsewhere for my tea”
“Appalling. Nothing like Lapsang. Basic black tea with some rather nasty chemical ‘flavouring’ added. What a joke. The ‘Master Blenders’ must have been told Lapsang was 3p a kilo too expensive and instead to use any old dust tea and lob in a bucket of flavouring. First they discontinue the flavoured Earl Great range (Lavender etc) then they abruptly stop the entire Dark Range, (Dark Grey, Dark Mint, etc etc with a weak Twitter post and no further news) and now they create this abomination.
Twinings stop relentlessly cutting your range and quality. It’s getting ridiculous.”
“Reluctantly bought it through lack of options and believing ‘inspired by Lapsang Souchong’ might mean it actually tasted like it. It doesn’t. Used one teabag, binned the rest. I can’t morally ask other people to drink it and I’m not going to.
I’ve never passed used washing up water briefly over a burning chemistry lab but, had I done, it would have tasted like ‘Distinctively Smokey’ or ‘smoky’ as a literate person might spell it. If what you want is Lapsang Souchong don’t make the mistake of buying this, they are unrelated.”
“Shame there is no zero stars option
Very Misleading of twinnings to use the same design box with just “ Inspired by Lapsong Suchong” in the corner. As others say here it smells and tastes awful, I put mine in the bin.
Am raising this blatant misleading with Advertising Standards. The actual contents of the tea is only mentioned in small print on the bottom of the box”
“Absolutely Horrible. As a lover of Lapsang Souchong, this new blend is nothing like and has in fact a nasty wood varnish like flavour.
How can I get a refund for the 39 tea bags I will not be using.
Twinings, your reputation for expert tea blending now completely trashed by this awful concoction.”
