“The tea is insipid and tastes like dishwater. It's a very poor imitation of Lapsang Souchong which I loved. Now sadly banned in the EU. I have been drinking the tea every day for 40 years and I'm still here. I believe its nonsense that it's a health risk.”
“Vile. I used to drink the Lapsang Souchang and having failed to find it anywhere gave in to try this, but it's absolutely horrible. I do want a smoky taste, but this tastes incredibly artificial. If you just want to be hit with cheap chemical smoke flavour knock yourself out, but for anything a bit more subtle - or, you know, actually nice - you'll need to look elsewhere.”
“I was a big fan of the Lapsang Souchong – only realised the tea was different once I'd made myself a cup!
This new blend has an odd aftertaste, almost chemical-like. Nowhere near as nice as the original.”
“Horrid - this is nothing like a refreshing cup of Lapsang Souchong - it tastes dirty and dirgy, leaving a nasty aftertaste
Seems silly but what was a highlight of my day is now lost...”
“I have been drinking Twinnings Lapsang Souchong for many years. It is completely different from the old version of Lapsang Souchong.
The new version of the tea is no longer sweet after taste, but has a disastrous sour taste. Hope this can be improved”
“Absolutely disgusting and mis-sold - branded with LAPSANG SOUCHONG prominently on the front of the box but in very small letters say (inspired by). Cynical attempt to mid-sell and mid-lead. Was looking forward to a nice cup of smokey bonfire lapsang souchong that they used to do, but instead got a nasty, astringent, melted plastic, medicinal, artificial chemical taste as if someone had thrown a load of plastic carrier bags on the bonfire. Not dissimilar to putting your head in a bin liner and inhaling all those lovely plasticky volatiles. Absolutely disgusting.”
