I have a powered USB hub for it which is worth it for the devices. I recommend a fan, it gets quite hot and I worry about its longevity without one.

“Bought this RPi-4B to replace and upgrade an RPi-3B which struggled (and that without the VPN). This one's headless on a wired network only, has two 2TB USB drives and two TV tuner USB dongles permanently attached. I have to say it's surpassed my expectations: it's quick, stable, cool and appears to be rather well made. I like the aluminium case I got for it too: stops it getting too toasty.
Only problem so far is the one I have suffers from what appears to be a well-known issue of stalled booting if there's a powered USB hub plugged in ... which in my case there is all the time. I can live with that though: it's been up for over a month and I expect it to stay up for much, much longer.
Great stuff: these are jaw-droppingly flexible ... when's the RPi-5 coming out?!”
