“Not a review as such because it was a Christmas present, but it arrived in plenty of time and service was fantastic. My partner absolutely loves it and cannot wait to try it”
“I currently own a few pis(pies?/raspberries? /raspberrys?) but this is certainly a big evolution in terms of performance. Well, since it's the new gen we are expecting to be better, but I think that the improvement between the 3 and the 4 are much more noticeable that between the 2 and the 3. Also the 4GB version is the only way to to when buying the 4,it certainly resembles a desktop feeling when using the graphical interface. The only thing I have to say bad (not so good) about it is related to the dual micro hdmi output. I would rather have a single full size hdmi than the two micro, but that's me.”
“Got this for wireless control of a telescope and camera for astrophotography while keeping warm indoors - and it works better than I expected! The Pi sits on the telescope and I vnc into it - I've set it up as a wireless hotspot using RaspAP. Will find other uses for it I'm sure - it's a proper PC in miniature.”
“The gig Ethernet and USB3 are worth the upgrade even if it’s a little more power hungry
Running Kodi and forked daapd on the 2Gb model is sufficient - on the Rpi3 this combo whilst compiling could sometimes run out of mem but not a problem with new version”
“Upon the release of this new Raspberry PI, I thought I would leave it a few months before buying until any bugs were addressed, well that day arrived and I have my new Pi.
The first task I tried was my Libre Elec setup but I did not see any noticeable difference in speed of operation.Next, I tried Raspian Buster and this is where the Pi4 shined, most applications showed a very noticeable speed increase, but the greatest difference is when using Youtube, no dropped frames 4k output.
The task I had planned for my new Pi will have to wait however, this is Retropie, a retro games emulator, some emulators and games will run on the new Pi but until an optimised version is released I will have to continue to use my Pi 3B+.
All in all, I am happy with the Pi4 4Gb”
