“This unit is super easy to fit, easy to set up and seems to be reliable in use. My only concern is that when used on a Zero it sits very close to the CPU and, if you plan to have an aftermarket heatsink fitted, then it can interfere with the fitting. You need to choose the heatsink with care and consider insulating the underside of the PCB.”
“I live in an area where power cuts (especially in windy, wet conditions) are frequent. This inexpensive device allows my Raspberry Pi home server to set the time after a power cut. The internet can take anything up to 15 mins to recover around here.”
“I was looking for a way to modify my Hassio set up to work without internet connection on a separate isolated network. The raspberry pi gets its time updated by connection with an Internet time server. There seemed to be 2 options. Add a FTC (this module) or set up my own local time server. I decided to try this module and added it to another raspberry pi 3 as a test. All seems to be working and it is not affected by and drop of the internet connection and possible power disconnects. I now just have to work out how I might get this integrated into the pi that runs Hassio.
Happy with the performance of this roc module and the ease at which I was able to fit it, following the instructions available from the Pi Hut. I am just a noob with pi devices and I managed to get it working!
