It's basically a universal IR receiver, so can be used with any remote you choose, old, new or Universal! The best part about Flirc is that it can be used to mimic a keyboard so every media center application understands it without any drivers

I now own 4 of flirc's receivers. Two of each version. They are all great. The programming is simple, integration with the Logitech remotes is perfect for kodi and it works with any device. I mean any. Windows, Mac, raspberry pi, openelec machines... The new version is even better looking. It is able to capture IR signals even from behind my tv.

I wanted a simple method to use an old Apple TV remote with Kodi on a PI 2 that wouldn't take much work on my part. The Flirc didn't want to work with that remote (effectively reading the inputs as long key presses, making it unworkable) but has worked ok with another remote.

It's a really nice Service for using with any Remote Controller that is ir based. I am Missing however the possibility to Link one Button of my Remote to more than one Keyboard Button. E.g. with an Apple Remote the Start/stop Button to F5 (for PowerPoint or Impress) and Space (for VLC).

The Flirc is really easy to setup. I realized a very cool project with it, i.e. now I can control via my Harmony remote my hifi stereo which can be controlled over the net. So the Flirc receives IR commands which are then translated into http requests which do control my hifi. So cool. Great product!
