“Most of the systems I have at home are Ubuntu Desktop and I had lots of problems setting the Flirc USB up, until I used Windows Pro 11 - I have a VM I keep handy. “Want to use one of those old remotes you've got stashed in the drawer? This is the thing to do it! It translates random remote codes to keyboard presses, so if you can do it with a keyboard, you can do most things with this and an IR remote.
It is IR though which means LOS is needed and absolutely needs plugging into a PC wo config *before* you plug it into whatever random box you're going to use.”
