“No complaints about the log wood itself, just not entirely happy with (laziness ??) of person(s) stacking these crates. This review is based on experience of the first crate of Ash because the second crate is not used yet. There was a big annoyance because many of the logs were way too Giant for my partner to pick up; they are even heavy for me and certainly would not have fitted into the fire stove. These giant logs either could not be split with our usual foot operated log splitter and eventually broke it. Not happy. Final result was the giant logs necessitated us having to purchase an £300 electro-hydraulic log splitter to split these logs down to sizes which both of us could manage. Having split giant logs down to merely big logs, these were kept in reserve for the times when we wanted to watch movies on TV and did not want to keep having to feed the fire stove. Anyway, big or small, all the logs were burning well indicating that they had been thoroughly kiln dried to specification, deep inside the logs as well as their surfaces. There is a silver cloud in the story - with the ease of the elctro-hydraulic log splitter, we split ourselves sufficient number of much smaller logs for starting a fire in the stove because it is easier to start a fire with lots of small ones than one big log. Happy to report that the logs in the second crate had a more varied range of sizes...... BUT even so there was one piece at 35cm (the crate was supposed to be of 25cm logs) and another piece was not sawn all the way through and was closer to 50cm. There is no way this was ever going to fit into the fire stove ! Good job I am amateur carpenter so didn't have to buy an electric saw too on top of the £300 splitter. Well, the person stacking the second crate did a reasonable job of it except for these two pieces. If they can improve on the quality control of stacking the crates, they Luxury Wood could be getting a 5 star from me.”
