“I appreciate it is a big problem with so many different cases available for a Mk 5 Pi but it would be nice to recommend one and a fitting kit for the base to fit to it. The base itself works fine and very fast conpared to a SD Card”

“Updated the PI firmware and booted straight off a Samsung 980 500G nvme SSD. Has been working under heavy use since first boot absolutely flawlessly. Would highly recommend.
Only drawback is it no longer fits in the official case, which is clearly documented and wasn't a surprise to me, nor an issue as it's just sat on a rack shelf for now till I find a better mount”
“Works exactly as advertised. The connector cable is a bit fiddly and you have to (!) take care not to connect the cable the wrong way (i.e. mix up the side). Which side goes where is fortunately printed on the cable so this is helpful. What is also helpful ist the installation video.
You can install any NVMe compatible SSD in theory but you should really check out their compatibility list as the Raspberry Pi 5 is not compatible with every vendor/SSD combination.
I'm using it with a Samsung 980 SSD - works great with Raspberry Pi OS and HomeAssistant OS.
You might need to adapt the boot order of the Pi though.”

“I now have 2 of these boards for my raspberry pi 5's. Both have worked straight out of the box. Put it all together and run. Simple! Both pi's are booting from the nvme ssd. One has the 500GB ssd from Pimoroni and the other is fitted with a Lexar NM790 4TB SSD. I didn't initially realise that the entire 4TB could not be used with standard MDR formatting. Once the SSD was reformatted to GPT it worked beautifully and the entire 4TB was available for use. I am thinking of replacing the 500GB with another 4TB as the 4TB is so much faster but both are extremely fast, vastly outperforming USB3 SSD.”
