“The pcie ribbon is too short, so it stays in tension, it's quite prone to breaking. Also, the pcie connector on the Pi is right on top of the sd card slot, so it's very difficult to insert and pull out a microsd to enable the Pi to boot from SSD, without touching the pcie cable.”
Ahoy Daniel!
Thanks for the review! We do have a longer PCIe cable if you find the one that comes with NVMe Base is too short - though it looks like we're currently out of stock: https://pimoroni.freshdesk.com/a/tickets/203587
Drop us an email at support@pimoroni.com if you'd like us try and hunt one down for you.
“Works fine and I can get good performances. Mounted on my astrophotography setup with AstroArch.
I made a modular case for it. If somebody needs, is on Printables as "Modular Raspberry Pi5 case".”
“Leider ist das Gerät unnötig zu lang so dass es nicht komplett in mein Gehäuse passte und ich eine Abdeckung weglassen muss. Die nvme Base sollte auf jeden Fall mindestens 5 mm bis 1 cm kürzer sein. Ich nutze einen Gehäuse von Miuzei Retro Gehäuse für Raspberry Pi 5.”
Ahoi Fernando!
Thanks for the review. NVMe Base is a little longer than the Pi so that it can accommodate 2280 size drives.
If you need an enclosure you could check out our NVMe Base Case: https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/nvme-case-for-raspberry-pi-5
