“I now have 2 of these boards for my raspberry pi 5's. Both have worked straight out of the box. Put it all together and run. Simple! Both pi's are booting from the nvme ssd. One has the 500GB ssd from Pimoroni and the other is fitted with a Lexar NM790 4TB SSD. I didn't initially realise that the entire 4TB could not be used with standard MDR formatting. Once the SSD was reformatted to GPT it worked beautifully and the entire 4TB was available for use. I am thinking of replacing the 500GB with another 4TB as the 4TB is so much faster but both are extremely fast, vastly outperforming USB3 SSD.”
“Very good board! Together with a 500GB SSD and an R5 8GB, this is a real power cube. A perfect design with great attention to detail: e.g. the angled connection cable (so that the SD card slot remains accessible) or the comprehensive instructions. Thank you Pimoroni!”
“I'm currently using the RPi5 NVME base with a (cheap) patriot SSD as the main storage for my home assistant box, and it's a great combination (I bought it to replace a small form factor PC which died, and it was relatively painless to image the SSD with HAOS from a raspbian install and then set the pi to boot from the NVME drive. The RPi5 + NVME base makes a great combination for running home assistant.”
