Great sound quality, much better than the stock speakers. I don't know why everyone is drilling holes in the doors to fit them. They line up with the 3 original holes if you position them correctly (Use the open slot for the lower screw and the square holes for the other 2).

They sound good but do require drilling extra holes in door to fit them.

A considerable improvement and replacement for tired old Mk1 speakers. Easy to fit. Took about half an hour. Does involve cutting foam from head rest as are larger than the factory fitted ones, but well worth the effort. Handy instruction sheet provided so no trouble to do. Bought a pair to do driver's seat and had to buy another for the passenger's as the difference in quality was immediately noticeable. Crank up the volume and enjoy!

As I already had the door cards removed to replace a couple of broken plastic retaining clips and to waxoyl the interior of the doors I decided to replace the speakers as the one speaker was beginning to disintegrate. As others have said you may have to drill the door. I had to drill one hole. The speakers are now held in with just two screws. I could have put a third screw in but this isn't necessary as two screws hold the speakers just fine. As I did not have a working stereo at the time of fitting I had to wait until I replaced the original Clarion Cassette tuner with a Pioneer CD tuner to get some music back into the car. Very pleased with the sound quality of these speakers. Super fast delivery from MX5 parts. Highly recommended.

Sound a million times better than the originals. Forget the faffing about: here is the easiest way to fit them (at least in an early MK1). Takes a few minutes.Philips screwdriver and small drill bit required. Also wire strippers if you have to change the + and - connections on the cables.Leave door cards in place and remove speaker surrounds. Remove and discard old speakers. Offer up new ones and connect wires.Line up one of the new JVC lugs with the furthest forward of the three original screw holes and refit screw, so speaker is resting gently in the cutout, but is still a bit loose. Have the drill ready.Having removed the securing clips from the speaker surrounds (you don't wont them to clip into place just yet), place them back where they should be and with a gentle wiggle the new speaker will also line up with them. Slide your fingers in to hold the speaker in position as you remove the speaker surround back out of the way. Drill a hole through one of the other lugs, insert a screw and hey presto, it's in the right position and secure. Drill and add a third screw if you feel it required. Now refit the panel clips and click the speaker surround into place. All done.

I have a 96 eunos. First of all theses speakers are a great improvement on what was originally installed. However they are a different size to the original speakers. They are slightly smaller. Read all the reviews, people saying rotate speakers and you can fit using existing fittings. No chance. Because the diameter is smaller you have no option other than to drill some new holes. Don't know why you guys don't stock same size speakers, would save a lot of hassle
