Read MX5parts Reviews

The Typhoon™ Air Intake System is a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum tube induction system designed to provide cooler, denser air to the engine for increased performance. It is a direct replacement for the restrictive OE air box and the constrictive factory air filter and inlet tract. Using the most advanced airflow management technology, K&N has optimized the flow characteristics of the Typhoon Air Intake System to complement it's high-flow Filtercharger®.Thanks to the massive number of these filter kits that we have sold in the last year we have managed to re-negotiate our price with K&N and are very pleased to pass on the saving to our customers.Fits all Mazda MX5 Mk2 and 2.5 models, 1998>

MX5parts service: excellent. K&N part: excellent. There are no words to describe how much I'm happy. There are no difference in noise till 3500rpm, but over it is simply wonderful. Rsponse to accelleration is faster than orginal filter. If you have a mx5 there are no reason to don't fit this part. Thanks to MX5parts team and to K&N.

Just fitted the air-intake unit and immediately took my '03 MX-5 out at night for a spin. I've got good and not so good news to report. I'll start at the top. This mob are the best to deal with. Price, service and advice over the phone was excellent and best of all, I got the item delivered to Sydney in 5 days and that included the weekend. Okay, fitting the air intake really is as per the instructions which are detailed without going over the top. Quite easy actually, took me about 40 minutes or so. The look of the unit itself (I got the chrome one) is a 10 out of 10. The sound at low revs is not noticeable at all, but does increase with revs but it is not as loud as other reviews suggest. As for the performance, a little better if at all to be honest. Regards, Greg

un admission direct de très bonne qualité et très belle. un peu bruyant vers 2/3 t/min si on accelère fort. un peu déçu que pas de geste commercial accordé car j'ai acheté trop top avant une promotion :(

Wow! A beautifully made piece of kit and very easy to install - 50 mins for me, taking it pretty easy, and I’m only a woman! LOL :-) Started the engine and the purr was immediate, even at low revs (which surprised me). At high revs the sound is just delightful (now it sounds like a sports car should, which is important not just because it sounds great, but because it means you are even more in touch with the car! and isn’t that what it’s all about?) Importantly, when overtaking, it had noticeably more power. The increased air flow has to be better for the engine too. I am in Australia and had several options who to purchase from, but I bought from this site mainly because of all the good reviews about mx5parts. Very pleased.

Easy to fit (took 20mins) and it sounds lovely. Im very glad i went for the polished/chromed pipe as the red would have clashed with my crystal blue mk2.5 :P

For all the geeks out there (you know who you are), I've done a bit of before and after analysis on this. I keep mileage records for my car and always have so I can compare to determine if there is any fuel saving effect of installing this induction system. My car is a V-reg Mk 2.5 1.8 litre special edition with 71000 miles on the clock. I have compared the same time period last year and this year to account for environmental variables like temperature and hideous non-half-term traffic etc. Most driving is commuting on A and B roads. I'm not a complete lead-foot but I don't hang around either...Average over 10 fill ups last year at this time - 36.84 plus or minus 1.21 MPGAverage over 10 fill ups this year post-Typhoon installation - 39.78 plus or minus 0.96 MPG(and today it achieved a personal best of 41.4!)This is a significant difference (t-test, p=0.0015) - told you this was for geeks!I calculate therefore that I am saving the equivalent of a full tank every 13 fill ups. At one fill up per week (roughly) that means that I'm saving the price of the kit in well less than a year!!And if that doesn't do it for you, the nice purr that develops in second and third gear as you climb through 2000-4000 rpms should. The sound isn't an obnoxious boy-racer thing at all - it's just something that you can enjoy if you turn the stereo off for a bit.Oh yeah, the usual - MX5 Parts are wonderful and the part arrived next day and was easy to install following the good included instructions blah, blah blah...Hope this helps and happy motoring.

recentlly fitted the K&N to my 1.8 sport, eagerly opened up the box all the components well protected with packing and complete, there's a easy to follow pictorial assembly guide,it's a doddle to fit, looks and sounds good and there's a definate increase in pick up and top end speed. The only niggle and it is a minor niggle is make sure you've got a long enough extension bar toyour socket set to remove the back bolt out of the stock air filter, alternatively remove the washer bottle to one side(1 bolt) and it's easy then.Great product, well produced, looks the dogs proverbials, and yet again delivered efficiently by MX5 parts.

A good kit for a beginner, perhaps as the first step beyond routine servicing tasks. Well specified and well made and the bits go together easily. Took me about an hour in all - ten minutes each to read the instructions, take out the old system, and install the new one, and the rest to clean the inside of the wing and sort out the wiring. You will need a few cable ties to organise the wiring for the two air sensors, and a ten inch or so socket extension to reach some of the bolts. The planned six mile test drive became a fifty mile one, the engine is clearly producing more torque at low revs and with a cleaner throttle response. The sound is pretty much unchanged at low revs, and wonderful once you get to 5000 or so.
