About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

After stumbling across this product on the internet and reading some of the reviews I felt I had to try it! I had suffered from over 10 years of menstrual cramps ever since starting my period, then more recently I found using tampons and pads increasingly uncomfortable, and due to an irregular flow could never quite predict what absorbency tampon to use on different days, meaning it was really uncomfortable...not good for 5-6 days out of every 30! I also liked the eco-friendly concept as well as the fact that it is a much healthier form of sanitary protection, not to mention the long term saving.I've been using my mooncup for about 4 cycles now.In my experience the positives are.....~It is a lot more comfortable to wear once inserted~It doesn't need emptying half as often as you would have to change a pad or tampon~It doesn't fill up your bin with rubbish (which is not the most pleasant sort!)~It is easy to clean with a little warm water or a wet wipe~It doesn't leak very much at all - I have always and probably always will wear a pantyliner while I'm on even when using a tampon or the mooncup...I won't lie, I have had a little leakage from the cup but literally nothing that would go through a thin pantyliner over an entire day. And it doesn't always leak, just sometimes. Hopefully this will stop as I get more used to positioning it right!~It is not causing uncomfortable dryness "down there" like pads and tampons were.~No more wearing what feels like a nappy to bed!!~I've also noticed I've had a lighter flow since using the mooncup and its less thick (yuk), also cramps have been reduced although sadly not gone away completely :(The downsides................~It is a bit hard to get to grips with the first couple of months/times that you use it, it is a skill to get it in and out easily....but practice makes perfect~I would say everyone will certainly need to remove the stem, which is a scary thought at first, but its a must if you want it to be comfortable and not rub you~As mentioned, it can leak a little in my experience, although if it leaks majorly its definitley not been inserted properly.~It is a bit nauseating the first time you see an actual cup full of your own menstrual blood, but again, its something you soon get used to and really isn't much more gross than a skanky used pad or tampon! At least you can flush this away!~If you are using a public toilet or a toilet where the basin is outside the cubicle then this makes it more difficult, and I would advise taking a small pack of wipes or bottle of water with you so you can clean your hands and the cup discreetly.~My other half is a bit disgusted by it.....but this is the least important downside of it!!All things considered I think it's a great invention and I wish I'd heard of it sooner, and would definitely recommend it to people, even if you find it isn't for you, its worth a try!

This is definitely the best purchase I've ever made. I'm including my Ipad, my unhealthy addiction to dried mango and the copious amounts of MAC makeup I buy on the regular. No longer do I have to stew in a flimsy blood pillow. No more irritation and risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome. Best of all, I won't be shelling out a small fortune to keep my clothing stain free from a human condition that I did NOT sign up for.So far I've only worn it for one cycle but it's beyond what I ever could have hoped for. I think I've been incredibly lucky as I seem to have managed an air tight lock on every occasion, honestly I thought it would take me a while to get used to it but it's been fine. Taking it out was a little bit nerve wracking but I found using one hand to steady and the second to pinch and remove did the trick. If you're considering taking the plunge I really couldn't recommend this product more. If I ever have daughters they'll be receiving these the very same day they acquire the curse.

Defiantly value for money... Think about the amount spent on sanitary products in a year and this lasts for up to ten years. Can't fault it.. Little tricky when you first get it but it's just getting used to it. After about a month I got the hang and haven't looked back. Lasts much longer than a super plus tampon and doesn't leek which is bonus.

This is an essential for any woman. It is 'greener' than using disposable sanitary products and works very well. It does take a while to get the hang of it though but the after-sales team are great and respond quickly to questions / issues asked. They also have a website with a great Q&A section too.

My friends still think this is really weird but for the ease of use I really couldn't care less. The first time I used it it was painful to put in, but after that one time I now find it easy to insert using the second folding technique. Even though the mooncup instructions tell you to only leave it in for 8 hours (i think?) I leave it in for 12. This means I only have to spend 2 minutes in the bathroom twice a day, no hassle! I hate it when tampons hurt after a while and pads make you feel gross, this is totally undetectable. As for problems I have encountered, the mooncup instructs you to cut the stem so that it doesn't hurt so again this made the first few times a little painful but now that's all sorted. Secondly, i have encountered a small amount of leakage on the occasion, and removing the mooncup i find painful but I'm putting these problems down to the fact that im still getting used to it.My advice? Persist with it! The first day or 2 are the worst cutting the stem and finding the insertion technique for you and wear pads with it while you get used to it.If you prefer tampons to pads but hate the pain tampons give you, BUY IT, its easier than it looks!

When this product first arrived I was slightly surprised by the size and dubious that I would be able to insert it. However, trying a couple of different folding methods and using water/lube it is very easy. The only issue I had was retrieving it. On my second day of using it, I thought it was stuck. I did not have much time before work and I could not retrieve it as it had traveled very far up. However, I emailed the manufacturers and they gave me some helpful tips on how to retrieve it and when I got home it only took a couple of minutes. Even though it was in place for about 20 hours, it did not leak at all and this was on one of my heaviest days. The manufacturer was very helpful and gave me some useful tips to ensure that a proper seal is created when inserting. Despite my hiccup when first using this, I think it is an excellent product. It feels more secure than a tampon, being able to hold more for longer periods of time. It is better for the environment, which is always a plus. I feel cleaner when wearing it, I am not sure if this is a common problem for most women but I find sometimes tampons cause a bit of incontinence, whereas a mooncup does not have this affect on me. I would recommend for anyone that would like to save money on tampons or cares about the environment and is not that squeemish about blood.A few tips from me are:Do not be too keen to trim the stem until you have been wearing it for a while and can make sure you know how much you will need.Make sure you form a tight seal, which can be done by checking the cup fully unfolds when inserted (by running a finger around the rim), or clenching your floor muscles to create a seal around it once it's in place. There are also other folding techniques which can help to form a seal and I am sure they can be found online.Relax as it can not get lost and get used to using your pelvic floor muscles to push it out.

Well, I've used about three or four times now and Im still not great at putting in and getting it out, sometimes I can do it really quick and sometimes it takes me 10 minutes! But leaving that apart (I guess that I'll get better with time) the mooncup is great :D It lasts much longer than tampons, it doesnt leak, its comfortable, and as everyone says, much cheaper. I loved to get rid of the tampon's cord, and it's not absorbent so it is much nicer in that way too.One bad thing...if you go out for a long time and you have to change it in a public toilet....it may not be very nice, after all you have to give it a wash before you put it in again and sinks are usually shared. But bearing in mind that they last a lot, if you're not in one of those days of massive bleeding it'll be ok.Anyway, I would recommend it to every woman (and teen), it's really a great change!

I was a bit scared of buying this at first, but I am glad that I did. Once I got used to it, it was quite comfortable. However (sorry for TMI) I have found it a little more difficult to use the toilet with it in, meaning that although it doesn't need to be taken out because it's full, if I want to pee it needs to come out! So tampons actually last longer for me. From the perspective of saving money and reducing waste, though, this is great.
