About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

I thought I'd try an give a realistic review for first time users of the moon cup, which i was one week ago!The cup actually works! It doesn't sit quite so low as it states in the instructions but as the forums have said, the instructions were probably written by men. The cup naturally rides up and the higher it is the less you can feel it - which is nothing at all for me. Putting it in just requires a gentle push and a jiggle of the hips and voila! It is scary the 1st/2nd/3rd time of taking it out as it feels like it's gone too far up but a gentle finger and relaxing solves it all. So do not cut the plastic stick thing until really necessary as it comes in handy for pulling out the cup.In terms of leakages which i was worried about, it is fine for the beginning and end to only remove, clean and replace every 8 hours but in your heavy day/days, every 3-4 hours is a must as blood may start to seep through the suction holes. I wore a panty liner to assess how i needed to act with my moon cup in the future. When inserting the cup you will hear a noise and that generally means it's sucked on tightly to the vaginal walls which means no leak unless its over full. It's revolutionary for me, i never agreed with tampons so to be able to go swimming, have little odour and be generally cleaner is fab. Of course, the health of the world is helped and your wallet remains closed every month for years. This is after my first period with the moon cup

I was nervous to try a mooncup for the first time , but have heard raving reviews from female colleagues and online . My mooncup was delivered quickly and comes with thorough instructions and a little cotton bag to keep it in . You have to sterilise it before use ( pop in a pan of boiling water for 5 mins ) . Once ready to use you have to get used to inserting it . If you don't get it right first time please don't give up ! Even when not quite in the right place the product performed , and only spotting leaked through. I would recommend taking a bottle of water when emptying in public toilets just to rinse , as I haven't had the guts to stand at public toilet sink brazenly washing blood yet . I am really happy to say goodbye to tampons ( which , depending on the brand can be made with bleached cotton / all kinds of nasty pesticides etc in the production process) and to reduce my impact on the environment and my purse !

Worked very well and it was easy to get the hang of taking it in and out. Only one incident of leakage but that was my own fault for leaving it in too long. Once it was in, I couldn't tell it was there whilst I went about my day which was great. Only issue was the holes around the rim were difficult to clean as they're so small but other than that, great product that massively reduces the amount of waste I produce during my period.

Takes some getting used to with regards to insertion and achieving comfortability. Once you've got the hang of that it does a good job, and it's great to know you're making an environmentally friendly choice.

Please please try it. You might be having doubts about inserting a small cup inside but if you get on with it - it will save you thousands of £s over the years as you will never have to buy pads/tampons again. I boil mine for 10 mins to sterilise it & re-use over and over which is absolutely amazing for the environment.I've got 2.. one that stays at home & one that is always in my handbag. I could never go back to tampons.. this feels so much cleaner/safer. When you first try it make sure you don't have to go out anywhere. It felt alien to me at first but I was so glad that I didn't have to go anywhere. The first few times of trying it.. it didn't feel right.. but i was determined to make it work.. I persisted and now I can't highly recommend it enough. If I'm ever without it I hate going back to tampons&pads. By using it; I am saving so much money, easy to use (once used to it) & amazing for the environment.Definitely, definitely give it a try. Not everyone will get on with it.. BUT... if you do.. you won't ever look back!

I saw a sticker advertising for this months ago and then came across it via a health website I use! I then saw it on Amazon and thought, just get it, don't think about it too much, so I did :) it's so great. Felt a tad strange at first, as does anything new, and took me a few days to really get in the groove with using it, but it's so comfortable once you insert correctly and doesn't leave you dry or sore from tampons (when re-inserting multiple times a day) somehow you feel more connected to your period and body. Good to also keep track of how much blood you actually loose.. highly recommended, no leaks and only need to change once a day, but I'd like me you're fascinated by this cup I change 2-3 times just to be sure/clean!! No more buying wasteful tampons/pads (no panty liners needed either ladies) enjoy and take care of your body! Take control of your flow each month by using this! I don't understand why it isn't sold out everywhere yet!! I went for model B based on the fact I do not have any children just yet! Enjoy and spread the word!! xxx

Ok so first things first I bought this cause the idea of a reusable sanitary product to try and reduce plastic waste was something I am in favour of. So as I had heard of this brand I went for it.Just to let any prospective buyers know this takes some getting used to! I have been using it for a few months now on and off but am still finding it very fiddly. The idea that you fold it over with one hand and shove it up 'there' with the other is a bit optimistic; it will unfold, it will pop open when you least expect it. Pulling it back out is also no picnic, the more often you change it the easier it is to pull out. A word to the wise ladies, make sure you have trimmed nails and have had a recent haircut downstairs that also helps.I'm gradually improving my time in changing these, it started of as 30 minutes of frustration every time, but only a surprising 10 minutes when I'd had a few drinks. Now I'd say it takes 10-15 mins. A little tricky to clean, it helps if you are in a loo with a sink, at worst I've had to bring a pint of tap water with me to the pubs loo.I will keep using this but I am still for now using tampons and towels after I get too frustrated with all the fuss of putting in this contraption. Hopefully the rest of you might have more luck than me!

I read a lot of reviews before buying this product and, to be honest, none of them quite prepared me for starting to use the moon cup.Insertion is surprisingly easy! It's just a case of folding the cup and shoving it in, which after a couple of practices becomes normal. I actually find it super easy to pop it in, in the shower. I do suggest some practice before your period starts... for the reasons below!Incredibly comfortable, once the stick was cut down.At first the stick caused me a fair bit of discomfort, so I cut it down a piece at a time re-inserting it to see how it fits. I ended up cutting this bit right down so the stick is practically non-existent (which actually made removal easier for me and also taught me I have a short vagina!)Removal is a bit 'icky' but by the end of one period I was used to it!The first removal resulted in me getting some on the inside of my jeans, but that was a removal using the stick. Once it was cut down I removed the cup by grabbing the base and putting it out slowly, which I found to be much more stable! I'm quite glad now as it is nice to not be grossed out by my period at all. With the moon cup there is no smell, and after a couple of practices, removal doesn't cause problems.I have a light flow, so I have kept mine in for up to 12 hours. Which is brilliant!Basically I plan when I put my cup in and take it out around what I'm doing for the day, to try and avoid removal in public restrooms where you cannot clean the cup discretely. Insertion and removal in the shower works great for me.I really do rate this product! I am 100% converted. Beforehand, I didn't think about the added 'gross' factor (although that has now gone), or think about the stem sitting comfortably. After the few days of my first period with the moon cup I was convinced this is the only thing I will now ever use. But I wanted to give the fair warning I didn't get! Just practice, practice, practice!
