About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

I was extremely sceptical of this and all the hype.I have a horrendously heavy period and even the super tampons don't last more than 4 hours over the bad days.I regularly found tampons uncomfortable and felt like they hurt or slid down and ended up changing them to try and get a better position which was comfortable this felt wasteful.I am on my first cycle with the mooncup.I did try inserting it when I was period free to get an idea of what it was like and how it should feel. There's a knack and you have to be ok with touching your lady parts.Anyway period arrived and I thought I'd I use it overnight to check (laying down less movement) and there was no leaking (with a tampon it would have leaked if I didn't wake to change it on my first night or flooded a pad when I used them). So in the morning taking the cup out when it's full of blood is quite an experience, but as long as you've got the hang of squeezing the base to break the seal it's painless and easy. Just gross. I know it's a natural body function but it was a lot of blood to see.. Just pure blood in a cup.Anyway, rinsed and reinserted I showered and left for work... No wet string (when i went to the loo) no blood on the towel I got ready and left for work.I had convinced myself driving in that it had leaked and there would be blood everywhere. There wasn't. It was fine.I worked came home and faced the blood again, partly for practice and out of curiosity. All still in full swing but no leaking, no uncomfortable dry feeling. I'm a total convert and am likely to give my "safety tampons" to a shelter/refuge.For me this feels cleaner, seems to make the blood smell less (not sure how) and I can forget it's there.I'm over 35 and have had a child by c section but purchased the smaller cup - I regularly exercise and am religious about pelvic floor and have had no issues but would have tried the bigger one if I had leakage. Good luck.Deffo practice pre period and read the instructions fully before use.

Takes a couple cycles to get used to I'd say but all in all a good product that's worth it to help do your bit for the planet.

I'll admit, it took me a while to warm up to this. In fact, the first time I bought one two years ago I ended up throwing it out after a traumatic time trying to take it out. After watching several documentaries mentioning sanitary waste and plastic tampon packaging ending up in the ocean I thought I had to try again. It's worth persevering! The site says it takes up to three cycles to get used to it and I'm at the end of the second and loving it so far. The first time I used it I only used it at home just to get used to it, and the second cycle I was mostly out on a long weekend in London, feeling confident after mastering putting it in (fine) and getting it out (a bit more difficult). I rarely used tampons, only when at work to prevent leakages occurring, and didn't enjoy using them much. Pads weren't much better and felt bulky, plus the risk of leakages. I've been using my Mooncup with reusable pads and liners with great success and will never go back to disposables. I can't rate mine enough! Glad I gave it a second chance, I just hope more women give a try.

I've been considering using this for some time, but decided to try it out. It arrived with perfect timing, I was able to use straight away. After a double fold it was surprisingly easy to insert, though started to leak about an hour later, so I removed and re inserted.Oh, boy! The removal is not pleasant, maybe I'm small, but it was uncomfortable and painful. It did continue to leak on and off, just a tiny amount, not vastly, a panty liner was adequate to use with it. Not sure why it leaked, maybe because I was lying down?I was amazed to see how small the amount of blood that's actually lost. I used organic cotton pads previously and it always seemed like a vast amount of blood loss.**UPDATE**A couple of months later it still leaks soon after insertion, before it's even full, so i'm lucky my periods only last a few days.I'm still glad I purchased. Less waste. No toxicity. It's much less messy than previous methods, even if a little painful

Ok I don’t do reviews unless I’m really pissed off or blown away. This product has blown me away!I’m a 42yr mum of two (both c- sections).Yup the box says I should use the size A but I tried a B and it just works so I’m just going with it.Read the instructions and make sure you have some private time so you don’t have to rush. I’ve read lots of reviews and relaxing is the key.I’ve used tampons and traditional pads for years and hated them. Tampons irritate the hell out of me, pads are just eeeeeewww!Mooncup does take a bit of getting used too - but I’m on my 2nd cycle and it’s defiantly getting easier.Inserting is very simple especially if you’ve used tampons before - would be an amazing product for young girls (periods are such a pain to deal with every month), but I don’t think (generally speaking) they would be able to cope with the idea of this.It takes a couple of goes to get the length of the tail right, but only snip off a ring at a time and don’t cut it when it’s inserted - that could lead to an embarrassing explanation in A&E !I would never remove Mooncup in a public bathroom, you definitely need a sink close by as it can be a bit messy when you’re learning. It’s a bit uncomfortable to remove to begin with, especially if you don’t successfully break the seal before removing - it can almost feel like you’re pulling your insides out (definitely stop if it hurts). RELAX I mean seriously that helps loads - my internal muscles were like an octopus the first time - ouch ouch ouch! This is the end of my 2nd cycle using mooncup and again my period is two days shorter - coincidence maybe, but my cycle is genuinely more accurate than the speaking clock, I have been 27/28 days 6/7 on FOREVER!Now the second month running is 27/28 days 4/5 on. THAT NEVER HAPPENS!I haven’t braved using Mooncup at night but next cycle I will. I use washable pads at night which is another amazing product.Bye bye disposable sanitary products - nasty uncomfortable horrid things. I can honestly say I don’t dread my period anymore, after 30yrs I have finally found some products that make the experience a breeze.

Great, waste-free alternative to traditional sanitary products. I have had some leakage issues but I think that's just down to getting used to inserting the product correctly. But I can't feel it at all when it's in and it saves me so much effort and money not having to worry about whether I have tampons when I leave the house!

when I first heard about menstrual cups, I thought yay, no more towels or tampons...... Using a menstrual cup takes a bit of getting used to. I found its fine on day 1, but on my heavy days (2&3) it just cant cope. It needs emptied within 90mins, not ideal at work when I have to use public toilets. So no getting away from using towels/tampons just yet. Day 4-6 its fine again. I like that on my lighter days I can leave it in all day without having to change it (unlike towels/tampons)

The first time I tried this I thought it was the worst invention ever created. But honestly with practice it gets so much better! The more you use it, the more "malleable" it gets which makes it easier. I'm not necessarily confident enough to wear it in every situation yet, but I use it when I'm at home or somewhere where I know there is going to be a sink in the toilet cubicle (!) I've cut down on my tampon usage which is the main reason I bought this. So it's a win for me.
