About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

I have only used the Mooncup for one period, so it's early days but overall I am happy with my purchase. It gives me confidence to know the material it is made of does not contain any harmful chemicals. It unfolds easily inside and I had no issues taking it out either. The only thing I am not so pleased about is that it leaked a little for the first couple of days and to be honest my period is not even so heavy (I hardly ever need more than 1 pad or tampon for 8 hours). Not sure if that means I have unfolded it too early... Will give it another go this month.

I definitely recommend getting a period cup. Might be somewhat difficult to get used to at first but it is great in the long run. Environmentally friendly and saves you some money.Box came open, that's why I didn't give it 5 stars.

No need for underwear. No leaking. No waste.Eco friendly.Cost effective.Simple and easy to use once you get used to it.You can hardly feel it once you've gotten used it.You can even go swimming without fear of turning the pool red.Tampons irritated me and I just couldn't get used to how they felt or how you'd pretty much waste one if it wasn't inserted right or you took one out too early ect. I've always used sanitary towels because it was just easier for me, but it's kinda gross and can get messy and they might move around ect. And recently, after getting some irritation because of them, I decided to give this mooncup a try. I'd heard of them before, and they seemed like a good idea, but for some reason I just never bought one till now, and boy do I wish I'd bought one sooner. The ONLY down side is it's a little gross to empty and you have to wash it. But it's not like the alternatives weren't gross too and the benefits totally out weigh just having to wash it. It's 2019 though, I think we should be over the stigma of "ew periods" by now. It doesn't bother me in the slightest.I would also say it can be a little bit painful to remove, but once you get the hang of how to do it correctly it's nothing.

Review by my wife. The mooncup has completely changed my attitude towards my period. I dont even feel like I'm on, I dont know it's there and is easy to put in and remove.I was looking for an alternative to tampons as trying to be more economically friendly as we all should be doing. I decided to give this ago, it takes practice to get the hang of putting the cup in a removing it but once youv got the hang of it it's really easy. Theres no icky string, or horrible dryness that you get with tampons. I literally pour down the sink, rinse and put back in. You can easily put it in in the morning and not have to worry about it for up to 8 hours. Its also a lesson on how little we do lose as it barely fills up. It's great during the night to, no waking up thinking am I leaking? Iv literally had no problems and I dint see it leaking unless put in wrong. If your thinking about making a change to a cup I would highly recommend it, its changed my whole outlook towards my period whilst also being so much better for the environment.

I'm very disappointed I'm unable to use this. Shame they only have two sizes. Fount it too painful to insert and take out. Also felt it constantly while worn, felt uncomfortable.

I am a girl with very heavy periods, which is inconvenient, expensive and sometimes embarrassing. On my second day, I usually can't last more than 20 minutes with changing and often just stay home, because it’s easier. I bought the Mooncup because I felt really wasteful using so many pads AND tampons. I had big expectations from this product, and it met them all. I managed to work with no paranoia and constant bathroom checks, my underwear and bed sheets have stayed dry and white. The instructions cover everything and the insertion part took me only a day to get used to. It is comfortable (no dry feeling like you get with tampons if it’s a slow day), holds a big volume, easy to clean. Taking it out is not as gross as everybody seems to say if you are careful and don’t tip it. The only thing that takes getting used to is figuring out the volume of blood you fill in a certain amount of time and therefore re-adjusting the number of your bathroom visits (I don’t have to go so often anymore :) ).Moreover, it is sometimes tricky to position the cup so it doesn’t press on your urethra (causing the feeling like you need to pee, or blocking you from completely emptying your bladder before removing your cup). To avoid this, push it a bit more inward (don’t be scared, use your muscles to push it back out later) until it sits comfortably. The reason this took me a couple of tries to figure out is because the instructions say the Mooncup should lay quite low, unlike tampons so I didn’t want to push it too far for starters. All in all, a great product. The amount of money it will save me and the amount of stress it has already reduced for me is incalculable. I am a definite convert!

I wish I had known about these years ago! I came across Mooncup from like a Facebook ad or something and I was reading the comments of girls who had said they were totally converted and would never go back to tampons again. I decided to give it a try! There is soooo much information online about menstrual cups, so many different brands but I went for Mooncup based on their reviews. When I first got it out the packaging I was thinking how the hell is that going inside me!! I read alot of tips online and videos showing different folding methods. Another good tip was to try putting it in whilst in the shower so that's exactly what I did.Now I'm not gonna lie - I was a bit traumatised! (The instructions say it may take a few cycles to get rid of it) my first attempt I ended up nearly fainting in the shower because I got way too flustered and panicky so I decided to leave it for my next cycle. My next cycle I tried again with a different fold method and that's when life totally changed! I had finally got it right and when inserted correct you cannot feel it and it feels so much cleaner than tampons. Not gonna lie though, emptying it is MESSY, with time and practice it gets so much easier and less messy and now I am totally converted and will never go back to tampons again (saving a fortune in the process)With a super tampon on my heaviest day I have to change every 2 hours, with my mooncup I can go 4 hours before I need to empty it! Saves so much embarrassment and paranoia!!I use size B even though I am 30 but have no children!Highly recommended!

I was extremely sceptical of this and all the hype.I have a horrendously heavy period and even the super tampons don't last more than 4 hours over the bad days.I regularly found tampons uncomfortable and felt like they hurt or slid down and ended up changing them to try and get a better position which was comfortable this felt wasteful.I am on my first cycle with the mooncup.I did try inserting it when I was period free to get an idea of what it was like and how it should feel. There's a knack and you have to be ok with touching your lady parts.Anyway period arrived and I thought I'd I use it overnight to check (laying down less movement) and there was no leaking (with a tampon it would have leaked if I didn't wake to change it on my first night or flooded a pad when I used them). So in the morning taking the cup out when it's full of blood is quite an experience, but as long as you've got the hang of squeezing the base to break the seal it's painless and easy. Just gross. I know it's a natural body function but it was a lot of blood to see.. Just pure blood in a cup.Anyway, rinsed and reinserted I showered and left for work... No wet string (when i went to the loo) no blood on the towel I got ready and left for work.I had convinced myself driving in that it had leaked and there would be blood everywhere. There wasn't. It was fine.I worked came home and faced the blood again, partly for practice and out of curiosity. All still in full swing but no leaking, no uncomfortable dry feeling. I'm a total convert and am likely to give my "safety tampons" to a shelter/refuge.For me this feels cleaner, seems to make the blood smell less (not sure how) and I can forget it's there.I'm over 35 and have had a child by c section but purchased the smaller cup - I regularly exercise and am religious about pelvic floor and have had no issues but would have tried the bigger one if I had leakage. Good luck.Deffo practice pre period and read the instructions fully before use.
