About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

I just love tampons.I love the way tampons let you know to change them by leaking, what better way to remind you it's time for a change than a visible one.The string of suffering lets those around you know that it's that time of the month and you are at the gym/pool anyway.I like having a handbag full of sanitary products, it makes me feel like a lady especially when I take said bag to the loo with me at work to let everyone know I'm a big girl and have my period. The packets make a particularly satisfying crinkle when being opened. My favourite thing to do in the supermarket is browse the vast array of tampons with my son in tow for the best offers and marvel at the latest innovations in 'cotton wool with a string' weighing up features like applicator vs non-wicking string; lengthwise inflation or width wise inflation? The Mooncup takes all the fun out of packing. I am very proud of how good I am at guessing the exact number of tampons to pack in order to minimise wasted baggage space. The Mooncup also denies you the icebreaking opportunity to start discussing your period with your work colleague when airport security stop you for random search. The Mooncup has stopped me from getting my usual priority pass to the bathroom in the morning. I used to threaten stained pyjamas but now my other half has got wise to the leak-proof nature and larger capacity of the Mooncup and knows I'm bluffing.I have also lost my claim to a whole drawer in the bathroom cabinet for my 'ladies things' now we keep a couple of spare loo rolls in there. In summary, the Mooncup is a perfectly functional and well engineered product but my life feels just a little bit emptier without my beloved tampon stash.

I've used my moon cup a number of times now and am getting used to the differences between it and tampons. Now that I have the tab cut to the correct length and am more confident inserting and removing it I find it comfortable and feel confident that it will work well. I am very pleased with the moon cup and am using it regularly. I am much happier using this than tampons. Great product, good quality.

I ever write reviews, ever, but this deserves one. This has literally changed my experience of having a period beyond recognition.Yes it's a little messier, yes it takes a bit of getting used to but oh it is so worth it!No more dryness, soreness, yucky smells, feeling Ming, spending a fortune on sanitary products, remembering to restock them, no more constant leaking/discomfort. I don't even feel like I am on my period. I used a liner for my first cycle to help me feel confident but have never used one since and never needed one. I swim, exercise, sleep, dance, live with this cup in place and love it. I also feel more connected and comfortable with my cycle which is liberating as we are culturally taught to be so repulsed by ourselves!I also am experiencing less pain when menstruating, whether or not this is related to the mooncup I don't know, but it's the only thing that has changed so I assume so.I haven't had to trim or adjust mine at all but if you needed to it's super easy to do so.Also, their customer service is amazing. If you're not sure about sizing or have any questions just call them. They are there to help.

After 25 years of heavy periods dictating my wardrobe and having to double up on protection, I discovered the mooncup by absolute chance and can honestly say it was life changing! A recent trip to a rainforest eco lodge advised female travellers that in the absence of sewers, no sanitary products could be taken, instead recommending eco options such as mooncup. Intrigued, I purchased one in advance of the trip to get used to it. I appreciate some women say it took practice to get used to but for me, it was a piece of cake from day one. I did a 'dry' run to get used to the sensation of the suction and found the folding method easy and reliable. I always give the stem a little tug to check I have suction and I've got used to emptying, cleaning and re-application without spillage (loo roll in spare hand, squatting). Apologies for being graphic but it is so worth the 2mins of gore morning and night for a secure, comfortable, peace of mind all day and night! Get used to pinching to release the suction, I've never found it painful or uncomfortable but a warning is that emptying on a heavy day is not a job for a public cubicle!I truly hope it helps many more women feel liberated from the worry of heavy periods!

The first time I used this, I couldn't get it in. I made the entrance to my vagina so sore I thought I'd never get the hang of it. Once it was in, it was good. Then the removal... I panicked because I couldn't reach it. Once I managed to get it I pulled so ferociously I forgot to release the vacuum. It was hideous. I put it in my drawer and thought that was it.3 months later I gave it another try! I persisited and I can honestly say that it's easy going in and coming out now. It just took practise! Just remember to always release the vacuum. It really does hurt.I have really heavy periods. I was ruining my sheets, knickers, pj's. I would restrict what clothes I could wear for 3-4 days when my period is at it's heaviest. I stayed at a friends and stained her sheet and spare bed. I've stained my car seat, my office chair. I knew I needed a solution and I hate tampons, but I was flooding nighttime pads. This feels like freedom now. I don't worry that I'm going to leave blood stains everywhere. I love my mooncup and I wouldn't be without it.

Fairly long review, as I know I found other people's experiences useful when choosing a cup. Also a little odd to write a review for such a personal product in public forum! Regardless, at the present time, I have used my cup for two cycles. The main driving factor for me personally purchasing a cup, was the reduction of waste. I found the concept of a cup a bit revolting, but was persuading by a friend who had one and spoke highly of it.Already I'm a convert. I find it easy to use, easy to change over, and fairly hassle free. That being said, there are a few caveats to this. Firstly, it's very intimate to use. I find that (having finally mastered insertion) it's necessary to 'fiddle about' with it inside to get the cup to open and form a seal. I would imagine this experience to differ for everyone depending on their 'interior design', but it could be a little off putting. You'd definitely need to be comfortable with this if you want to use a cup, I think. Secondly, I cannot imagine removing it anywhere other than in a shower tray to be honest, so will always time my use to ensure I wouldn't have to change it anywhere but either my bathroom or in a shower. Possibly a public toilet with a sink, where you wouldn't be disturbed. I can't remove mine other than in a squatting position, which I don't find a problem at all, but I wouldn't want to do this in a public toilet cubicle. With planning, I can't imagine a scenario where I would need to though, to be honest, as the cup lasts longer than tampons or towels would. So far, I can't manage more than four days consecutive use, as I am still getting used to it. Mooncup even advise it may take 2-3 cycles to adjust. I personally think this is normal and I'm not disappointed; for me, it's because I feel a bit 'bruised' by the 'fiddling' inside upon insertion and removal, and don't feel it necessary to overdo it. I fully expect it to be much more normal by my next cycle and manage to maintain using the cup throughout.I would recommend the cup to my friends without hesitation, but would caution it can take some getting used to, does require intimate 'fiddling' (so be aware/comfortable with this), and personally wouldn't want to change it anywhere in public where there wasn't an easily cleanable floor and running water in the same area/cubicle. These are my personal views and experiences. It looks like some people have none of these issues, so it could be that the cup is carefree for most. I found insertion took a few goes to get used to, but it is fairly intuitive once you get the hang of it. Never had an issue removing it, but this is another time where you have to be fairly intimate with yourself and I have caught myself in sensitive areas a couple of times. Another aspect that you'll get used to, but for me a reason why after four days so far it was enough. I could have continued, but felt I would rather give it a rest.

Mixed experience using this.- bit tricky to get in at first but improved quickly- messy to get out. Definitely better to do at home.- on the last couple of days it seemed to go higher up and was trickier to get out. Pushing down with my vaginal muscles worked to help shift it.- lasted much longer than tampon. Useful on heavier flow days.- on these days less chance of leakage than with tampon. Seemed to feel 'heavy' when it was ready to remove.- forgot about it when it was in. Comfortable.- interesting to see flow more clearly. But seemed to stain toilet bowl more!Overall an interesting experience and worth it overall. I especially appreciated being able to wear it longer without leakage and not having to carry tampons around. I'll get used to the rest I think.I put it in on the first day of my period and didn't use a single tampon or pad (just a fabric pad backup which I rinsed each evening) - that feels like an achievement!
