About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

I ordered this as I was going away travelling and I have been wanting to move to the MoonCup for a while. For starters, make sure you get the right size ( info on the website) as if your mooncup is too big it can be uncomfortable. I really like the mooncup and I love that I am not harming the environment, being unfairly taxed and I am not wasting money on tampons. However, I would say that when you need to change the mooncup, it can be a bit messy so it is best if you change it in a toilet which has a sink in the cubicle. Not to get too graphic, but try not to jolt when removing it and try to clean it as often as you can. Also make sure you sterilize the mooncup in between uses in boiling water. Also do not cut the stem off the funnel until you feel comfortable removing the MooncupOther than that I was pretty impressed and I will continue to use this product!

This one didn't fit me, so I'm giving it less of a star, but the product still came in really good time, I then ordered the other size of mooncup which is great, the mooncup products are definitely ones I would recommend, just read about the size you're buying because I didn't and that's why I ordered the wrong one

I have always suffered from very heavy periods and needed to use super plus extra Lillets as well as a pad because within an hour and a half the tampon would start leaking through...That was when I decided to buy myself a Mooncup, after having looked at them in boots for quite some weeks, feeling undecided.Best decision I made!!! I use the tulip fold to insert it and then run my finger around the rim to ensure the cup has unfolded and thus created the seal. I can now go out and not worry about leaks for hours on end. I usually clean the cup every 6-8 hours (that part can be a bit messy, as when you break the seal and remove the cup you will see your own menstrual flow, which is actually NOT all blood! It's only about 50%blood and 50% clear or straw coloured fluid, which is the broken down endometrium. You will get a little bit of blood on your fingers too. But just give your mooncup a good rinse under the tap (I prefer to use the hot water tap) and the fold it again and reinsert it. Oh, also, unlike tampons which sit next to the cervix, the mooncup sits close to the entrance of the vagina.I have been using the Mooncup for three cycles now, it cost me €28, as I live in Ireland. It has paid for itself now. From my next cycle onward it is actually making money for me, hehe... €8 per cycle to be precise.I know my review isn't as long or extravagant as a lot of the others here but writing reviews isn't my strong point. I just tell how it was for me

First time for me to try anything like this. I've never really liked wearing pads or tampons as they feel drying or bulky, sometimes they've leaked into my pants too. I tried this as soon as it arrived (after boiling it for 5 mins in a saucepan to clean it.I'm not a squeamish person so forgive my very open review!I wet the cup and used the tulip fold to insert it, worked much better than the c fold which I couldn't push in at all... I hadn't trimmed the stem as I wanted to try it first and see what was needed. It wasn't very easy to insert, and I was convinced I'd done it wrong as I could feel it, and felt the need to pee straight after I stood up, but it was a false alarm...I left the cup in for 6 hours and although it wasn't uncomfortable once it settled in, i could feel it down there- maybe just the stem.Getting it out was quite tricky, it seemed to have moved quite high and I could barely grasp the stem. I squatted on the bathroom floor and used finger and thumb the grab it. Fingers have to go right in there I'm afraid! There was some strong suction and I wasn't sure I'd get it out but I wiggled and pulled on it for a while and managed to get it low enough to squeeze the cup in to release some suction. There were a few gross squelching noises and I was afraid I'd squeeze it and make a mess but I managed to jiggle it out. There was a long stringy bit of clot connecting me to the cup which was gross, and a slight aroma- I guess I've never smelt myself like that before but the cup showed about 3mls of blood (it holds up to 15mls and has markers).I emptied and washed it and it went in a little easier now I know what I'm doing. Mine still goes up quite high, I don't even need to cut the stem as that's just inside me enough, perhaps with practice I'll learn to keep it low and may need to cut the stem but I'm pleased so far that I have the device and look forward to being more connected and in control of my body.

I bought the wrong size, mistake on my part. But good quality, have now purchased a different cup (me Luna) as this cup is too long for my body, the tail would have to be cut right off. I didn't really want to do that in case it was hard to remove. The tail is also ridged so if it does rub it hurts. The rim is quite thick compared with my new cup. Inserting the cup did become easier after practise, but where I had bought the larger size by accident it was a little difficult. I am under 30 and never had a baby. The few extra mm really do make a difference.(Don't read if squeamish: I do have a heavy flow, but I feel confident with my new cup. I am yet to have to remove one in public! Scared of the mess! But I always wear it at home. I definitely would recommend cups, saves money, and I think my period is shorter most of the time when I do wear it. I don't know if it's because it's flowing freely rather than soaking into a tampon. So bonus :) )Overall I would recommend a cup. But I found that shape and size matters, this cup is a good start. But ended up with Me Luna as they had more variation on length and width and even colour :)

I tried this out after someone recommended it to me. I struggle with tampons and pads as I'm allergic to them. When I first tried it I struggle with the way they suggested (the c fold) but I tried the other way they suggested and that worked for me, they also have other suggestions on their website. It does take some getting use to and it is messy but I would recommend them over tampons and pad. I found cutting all the stem off was more comfortable but that's my personal preference.Firstly it doesn't irritate, I can leave it in for the recommended time that it suggests. I can also leave it in for my full cycle. With tampons and pads I would be in so pain that I wouldn't be able to use them all the time, this was ok when I was on the pill and had light ones but I knew that I wouldn't be able to do that once I cam off the pill, that's when I started using the mooncup. The cups is easy to rinse out and clean, it also saves money, I don't have to worry about buying tampons and pads, I have an app that reminds me when I'm due to start but all I do is put the mooncup in on the morning when I'm due and then I don't need to worry about rushing to the toilet when I do start. It's also so comfortable, sometimes I forget that I have it in, you really can't feel it inside of you.

I Absolutely Bloody (excuse the pun) love my Mooncup used to dred my monthlys arriving but now I don't mind when Mr Blobby comes around, very easy to use (make sure you order the correct one) yes you do get some funny noises but giggle and relax that is the key to getting it up there also warm water (I use a top and tail bowl) and get to know the folds which assist you getting it up there! to get it out just flex down below which brings it closer to the entrance use your fingers and lightly tease the cup out using the Base of the cup top of the stem (I have removed the stem as was very annoying as I could feel that bit when I sat down) yes again when you break the suction sometimes you get sucking, farting noises but hey its bodily functions! Again water in a babies top n tail bowl one side with water to wash it out in and the other side clean warm water to aid the next insertion. Before I joined the Mooncup Revolution I had my reservations about it thought oh yuk seeing all that blood but i am so so glad I switched I have always hated tampons and pads and wish I got one earlier. Tip : if you have cats get a lidded lockable box to store it in, one of my cats have destroyed 2 of these!

I actually can't fault this product! After doing a lot of research and talking to friends who use it, I decided to give this a go for 2 main reasons, 1, to save money in the long run on disposable sanitary products and 2, because I don't like the fact that disposable sanitary products are bleached and have nasty chemicals I'm them and who knows what that is doing to our bodies?!Ok admittedly, it was a bit tricky at first to insert and take out, but after a bit of practice, I soon got used to it. Once it's in properly, you cannot feel it! I would recommend wearing a panty liner with it to start off with as you may get little leaks until you've perfected getting it in and out, once you have achieved this however, you will not get leaks and I've even been swimming with it in! It's easy to clean, just empty it in to the toilet then rinse it under the tap and you can boil it in a pan of water to kill off any germs and bacteria. You can leave it in for up to 8 hours so great if you're out and about and it also means you can sleep with it in if you wanted to. As gross as it sounds, it says that it can be taken out, emptied and reinserted without rinsing (I guess that's handy if you're in a hurry)! I've also ready that it's good for your pelvic floor muscles as it sits lower than a tampon so your pelvic floor muscles naturally grip around it to hold it in place. It really is a win, win product!
