About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

I have been using my current menstrual cup for just under a year. I'm not new to menstrual cups, in fact I've had quite a few including Lunette, Meluna, etc. However the Mooncup was my first menstrual cup in my mid 20s. I've upgraded to a size A now that I'm in my mid 30s, though I have no children. It took a bit of getting used to it again, since I stopped using menstrual cups after a break from having periods due to the pill. I forgot about how easy and convenient cups are versus disposable menstrual products. Plus, my environmental warrior self is most pleased with this purchase. It's just amazing, I cannot recommend it enough, it's easy to use (it requires you to be very comfortable with your body, I mean, if you masturbate then it shouldn't be a problem!), hygienic and good for the planet. I often find myself slipping in a comment about how I love my mooncup to my girlfriends and will continue evangelising the world and try my best to convert everyone who bleeds monthly to switch to a mooncup. Best invention ever!

Been following the progress on these things for years. So took the plunge to try one for myself.Looks like it would never fit but following the clear instructions helped. Takes some getting used to as it can take time to insert properly and you can panic trying to remove it. Plus once it’s in, you doubt the ‘absorbency’. But I did wear it for 6 hours without a problem. Easy to clean so will continue to use it.

I have been using a Moon cup for over several years now and theres no going back for me. When you first try it out, do so when you haven't got to be anywhere so you can get the hang of it and work out what's best for you. Wear a back up pad as well in the begining. Sure it can be a bit awkward and fiddly at first, but by the time my next cycle came round, I had aced it. For those that worry about having to empty in public toilets/at work, I have a medium flow and I only need to empty it 2 times a day, every 12 hours, and even then it's not full, so I reckon someone on a heavy flow can do this too. I just pop it in, and do not need to worry about it at all. I've never had any embarrassing spills, and have never found it messy. I've only ever had one leak with it, but that was because of user error and didn't check that it had sealed around my cervix properly. I always run my finger around it now to make sure is in place. If you can feel a part of your cervix hanging out, you have placed it up too high . I now only wear a panty liner with it, as you will get some residual spotting from where you remove it and pop it back in. The only time I wasn't able to wear it, was after I gave birth, and i couldn't wear it until about 6 months post partum, as I found it sat too low and was uncomfortable, but once my muscle tone improved, I was able to wear it. I was gutted at first because I thought I wouldn't be able to use it again. As for cleaning, whilst I'm using it, I just rinse it with water after emptying, and after each cycle I will sterilise it in milton solution ( this helps to remove staining as well, as it will stain brown over time, which is harmless and doesn't affect its use btw). I found that I had to cut all of the stem off of mine, and have still found it easy to take out and put back in. What's great is that since it doesn't absorb, theres virtually no risk of TSS, and its doesn't feel like you're pulling your insides out like a tampon does. Also it's great for the environment!

I really wanted this product to work for me but it just doesn't. I bought one after years of wanting one and hearing great things and I'm trying to cut down on waste in my life.I'm 23 and got the larger one as I've had my first baby this year, and even though it catches the majority of my period no problem, I always have a small amount of leakage regardless of how often I change it. Not enough leakage to stop me from using it, but enough that I would have to double up with pads for me not to ruin my clothes, which when I've bought a moon cup to be more environmentally friendly, it really is very disappointing. It may work perfectly for you, particularly if you haven't had children, however for me I've used it over 2 periods now and it just doesn't seem to work, even though I know it's inserted correctly. I will still continue to use this product, however I will also have to purchase reusable pads for it to work effectively enough for me to leave the house wearing it

Still just getting used to changing to a cup. I’ve had to cut the steam down as the cup was too big. I was definitely folding it incorrect so make sure you google different ways to fold the cup to insert it.Can’t fault the moon cup though, it’s soft and flexible and comes with a handy little bag to keep it in.

Great product. Shame the version I received was all in Italian!! Luckily I've had one before and this was a replacement. Someone receiving this for the first time who does not speak Italian would not have known how to use it!!

I’ve put off getting one of these for years. I have no idea why because it’s absolutely amazing. I’ve been using it for two months, so still getting the hang of it and it is something you need to persevere with, but it gets easier every time. The first two days I have been using a liner as well as the mooncup because I find it does leak ever so slightly (not sure why) on those heavy days, but apart from those two liners I’m not using any other products at all which is amazing. I’m sure once I’ve gone another couple of cycles it will become second nature and my confidence will improve. It’s especially good overnight - you know the first couple of nights when you’re at your heaviest and you sometimes leak - none of that with the mooncup. I don’t like tampons overnight and with pads you can feel the ‘flooding’ and it’s so uncomfortable. With this you don’t have that feeling and can just sleep easily. I honestly wish I’d used it sooner! Highly recommend

Seeing as whoever is reading this is doing so to get personal experiences with this as normal women that bleed i won't worry about it being 'icky'I chose size A as I'm near enough 30 and have had two beautiful children who ruined my v jay jay and any pelvic floor muscles i may have had before they popped out. I found it funny on the instructions that the 'muscles' will keep it in. My first thoughts were "well I'm f****d then"I have extremely heavy periods that last 7 days before light bleeding for 2-3. Being the unorganised mum that i am i didn't warm myself up to this like a normal woman may have done before her period began. Instead i came on and popped this in and honestly, after mid 1st day period i was converted to this little magic cup.I did chop all the wobbly bit off the end as it was poking me and sticking out and was much better afterwards.Chopping of the wobbly thing off i then went about my day worrying every 5seconds how i was gunna get it out now theres nothing to pull. "oh my gawwd am i leaking? its leaking!" It wasn't. Im 5 days in and have not leaked so far. you also literally poke a finger to the side, the suction releases and you pull it out gently. I will say I'm not keen on the putting it in part when it snaps into its position, feels slightly like its sucking the air into it. Doesn't hurt and isn't uncomfortable it just feels bit weird.I'll be honest and say its really fascinated me how much I've been bleeding and informing my husband every time i change it that women are clearly the more superior race that we can go through this. Don't show your fellas, they don't like it. Ive been changing it every 3-4 hours but have gone a whole day out and had zero problems.Ive found i don't like emptying it down the toilet i prefer pouring the blood directly down the sink drain, giving it a quick rinse then popping back in and wiping the sink down. I plopped it down the loo once and it slashed up at me and was traumatic and looked like i had massacred tiny little loo people down there along with it going up the back of my legs-arse. I suppose i could just pour it gently but its really put me off and i like giving it a rinse anyway. For that reason i wouldnt be keen on changing it while out but so long as I've done that before leaving gives me plenty of time to be sociable.Reason i went for this is every single month id get thrush directly after day 1 of period. Along with cystitis and it was just breaking me. Even if i got tampax superplus from pound land id still go through a box of 12 in a day and then need a tammy in for nighttime with a pad. Thats around 7quid for the first week on tampa alone and they would just slide out and feel so uncomfortable and self conscious i have a tampon poking its head out the cave. Id then have to go find a toilet and insert yet another one, it would itch and give me weird stomach cramps, change the ph of my foof making it dry and irritated. With one product for 17pounds I've already started saving money. I have no thrush, I'm not itching, no tummy cramps, don't have to worry about having 5tampons in my bag with spare knickers for leakage. This one little item has genuinely made my life much more comfortable in the space of a week. If i didn't have normal period pains i wouldn't even feel it its brilliant.
