About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

I’ve put off getting one of these for years. I have no idea why because it’s absolutely amazing. I’ve been using it for two months, so still getting the hang of it and it is something you need to persevere with, but it gets easier every time. The first two days I have been using a liner as well as the mooncup because I find it does leak ever so slightly (not sure why) on those heavy days, but apart from those two liners I’m not using any other products at all which is amazing. I’m sure once I’ve gone another couple of cycles it will become second nature and my confidence will improve. It’s especially good overnight - you know the first couple of nights when you’re at your heaviest and you sometimes leak - none of that with the mooncup. I don’t like tampons overnight and with pads you can feel the ‘flooding’ and it’s so uncomfortable. With this you don’t have that feeling and can just sleep easily. I honestly wish I’d used it sooner! Highly recommend

Seeing as whoever is reading this is doing so to get personal experiences with this as normal women that bleed i won't worry about it being 'icky'I chose size A as I'm near enough 30 and have had two beautiful children who ruined my v jay jay and any pelvic floor muscles i may have had before they popped out. I found it funny on the instructions that the 'muscles' will keep it in. My first thoughts were "well I'm f****d then"I have extremely heavy periods that last 7 days before light bleeding for 2-3. Being the unorganised mum that i am i didn't warm myself up to this like a normal woman may have done before her period began. Instead i came on and popped this in and honestly, after mid 1st day period i was converted to this little magic cup.I did chop all the wobbly bit off the end as it was poking me and sticking out and was much better afterwards.Chopping of the wobbly thing off i then went about my day worrying every 5seconds how i was gunna get it out now theres nothing to pull. "oh my gawwd am i leaking? its leaking!" It wasn't. Im 5 days in and have not leaked so far. you also literally poke a finger to the side, the suction releases and you pull it out gently. I will say I'm not keen on the putting it in part when it snaps into its position, feels slightly like its sucking the air into it. Doesn't hurt and isn't uncomfortable it just feels bit weird.I'll be honest and say its really fascinated me how much I've been bleeding and informing my husband every time i change it that women are clearly the more superior race that we can go through this. Don't show your fellas, they don't like it. Ive been changing it every 3-4 hours but have gone a whole day out and had zero problems.Ive found i don't like emptying it down the toilet i prefer pouring the blood directly down the sink drain, giving it a quick rinse then popping back in and wiping the sink down. I plopped it down the loo once and it slashed up at me and was traumatic and looked like i had massacred tiny little loo people down there along with it going up the back of my legs-arse. I suppose i could just pour it gently but its really put me off and i like giving it a rinse anyway. For that reason i wouldnt be keen on changing it while out but so long as I've done that before leaving gives me plenty of time to be sociable.Reason i went for this is every single month id get thrush directly after day 1 of period. Along with cystitis and it was just breaking me. Even if i got tampax superplus from pound land id still go through a box of 12 in a day and then need a tammy in for nighttime with a pad. Thats around 7quid for the first week on tampa alone and they would just slide out and feel so uncomfortable and self conscious i have a tampon poking its head out the cave. Id then have to go find a toilet and insert yet another one, it would itch and give me weird stomach cramps, change the ph of my foof making it dry and irritated. With one product for 17pounds I've already started saving money. I have no thrush, I'm not itching, no tummy cramps, don't have to worry about having 5tampons in my bag with spare knickers for leakage. This one little item has genuinely made my life much more comfortable in the space of a week. If i didn't have normal period pains i wouldn't even feel it its brilliant.

I wouldn’t go back to using tampons or pads. I love this cup. I watched a fair few youtubers talking about it and did quite a bit of research so felt like i knew what i was doing. My first attempt was while on holiday (not the best situation) but although i was nervous about leaking, it didn’t happen.I’ve done 3 cycles with it now and have noticed the second day of my period it sits much better and no spotting like on the first day (perhaps its a lubrication thing)Also it sits a lot lower than what i thought it would which is fine cos it doesn’t rub. After wearing mine for about 6 hours i wash it, put it in a little pot and pour boiling water over it, (I squash it so that the air vents are rinsed with boiling water too) then put it back in, obviously once its cooled. I am very conscious of trying to keep it clean. Then at the end of my cycle i boil it in a pan, watching it like a hawke so that it doesn’t burn. The other great thing is there is no smell like what you get with other sanitary products.Even if I didn’t get on with this particular cup, i would try a different one because i love the idea that I’m ot only saving money but I’m doing my own little bit to save the planet.

As describedSaving the planetConvenient instead of carrying around tampons and padsDon't need to empty it as often as I would have had to change tamponsOnce i got used to it i now feel more secure against leakage than I did with tamponsOk - menstrual cups for some reason, everyone thinks they are gross. When I tell my female friends about these i usually get a look of distrust and disgust!!! I'm not sure why the idea of them seems to put people off. Maybe it's because you see your menstrual blood? You will 100% see your blood and have to poke around in your undercarriage - so if either of those points worries you then maybe it's not for you - but I would still say try it and see!Anyway, all I can say is, if you are considering using one, just do it, do it now! It does take getting used to and you will need to have some back up pads while you're adjusting, but it's so worth the perseverance!Tip: you will know it's in securely as you'll feel a quick vague popping sensation. If you are unsure if it's in properly it probably isn't so try again.Good luck mooncuppers!

Takes a while to get used to and I could tell it was there unlike a tampon but it seems very secure and easy to put in and take out and will save a lot of money not having to buy tampons anymore.

Soooo, I may have been a little hasty in my previous review. I kept revisiting the mooncup as, even though I was still experiencing leakage problems, the pain was so much less. Each time I would get frustrated and go back to tampons ..boom, the pain would ratchet up. I finally just commited to using it for whole periods along with a pad until I could master it. Now I can get through a period with 2 paracetamols taken on the heaviest day, whereas before it was methanamin acid for days.Original title: Turn your period into a nightmare of uncertainty and leakage for £20 - I can't even begin to describe how awful this thing made an already awful time of the month for me, I can only thank goodness that my period generally starts at the weekend. 2 periods of leakage and self groping later and I'm done. I watched a million you tube videos about folds, insertion and positioning before I started so it isn't about not enough research. I checked the darned thing was completely open (I ran my finger around and made sure i could feel the entire rim, yes I'm that flexible), checked it was sealed after, pretty much cut off so the stem it would't wriggle around. I'm in my thirties and fully remember my first time using a tampon, it was not this awful, so back I go.

This product is great. It has taken a little getting used too but I love it and I’m sure my periods are less painful and shorter since I started using it

I am just new to menstrual cups, this one is the first well known brand that l own. It’s much better at opening when inserted. Like I mentioned I am still learning to use them things, they seem to take time to get the hang of it. This cup is firm, not hard so it did not leak overnight as l did not squeeze it as I slept. I might return after many uses to add or remove what I just written, so far am happy with it
