Excellent recorder, which gets better the more you use it. Lost one star due to difficulties understanding the manual, which should be provided with the box but has to be requested from Humax support

This is an upgrade to the FVP-4000T we had previously, the remote control on this had become intermittent making it really difficult to use, even though we had purchased a new remote we were missing things like ITVX so thought it was time to take the plunge. It functions a bit differently but is easy to grasp, some things are even easier than the old model. Overall, I have to say this is a sold unit with great functionality and fantastic features!! There are only two drawbacks, first, the CEC feature is a bit slow so turning it on it takes a while to start up your TV (still looking into this); and, no Netflix app can be installed, (again still looking into this), if Humax could sort this out it would be amazing and not just great! I mean it still has the opportunity to install other apps like Kodi, which surprised me, so if you are looking to buy one just do it you will not be disappointed. To everyone that said this was difficult to set up, get a life, I didn't even read any instructions and went through the setup just by READING what was on the screen! Can't you guys read?? The instructions were simple enough explaining what it was doing!!!

All you could wish for in a neat little box allowing access to everything on Freeview Play and other providers - Netflix, YouTube etc. Huge storage capacity and facility to record up to four programmes or channels at the same time. Terrifically pleased with a terrific device.

Recently cancelled my sky contract as we were only using it to record programmes. We don’t do adverts . Read the reviews on the Humax box and decided to purchase one. It’s early days, we are very pleased with the box, easy to set up and use. Excellent picture in HD. the box has lots of features we like. So far an excellent purchase.

I already have a Humax TV recorder. I only use Freeview. How do I connect my second new Humax to the TV? I wish to use both recorders joined together with access to both. mike@4roots.co.uk Thanks. A line drawing would help.

I had a Humax Freeview recorder before, but when it broke down after four years it was an opportunity to go for the Aura as my tv is a 4K model and any 4K recordings would be of good quality.

The new Aura is an improvement over the older Humax generations and offers some really nice features such as up to date on-demand apps, inc ITV-X and being Android, offer a lot of extra apps to make this box an all-round entertainment system. It has a lot of Pro’s such as; Smart Apps, multi-channel recording, support for remote playback and media download, Remote Scheduling, voice assistant and of course, the Aura app to let you view programs (some offline after a bit of built-in conversion faf) and set recordings which is a big plus, but it also has a few Con’s too like; no Folder Management, uploaded content cannot be viewed from the ‘Recordings Menu’ (so need to use such as VLC Player), timer based power up and shut down options, Recording Management (can’t recover deleted recordings) and it suffers the same ‘End of Recordings’ cut off issues, even with Padding enabled and despite the multiple decoder options. Would I recommend this, yes, it’s benefits do outweigh its shortcoming, which are not limited to the box as I also found the lack of Support (via email and social media) lacking, eg taking over a week to reply to an email and then getting an unhelpful response. The manual is good but does not answer all queries and the lack of a user forum or social media page is distinctly obvious. I would say this product appears to be ‘new’ but it’s been out a while now, so can only assume that its user base doesn’t warrant the resources to improve the product or offer better support, which is a shame as the unit overall is good at what it does.
