The Severn Vale Discovery Cruise Reviews

I thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, starting on 3 September, despite the unfortunate necessity to rearrange the itinerary at short notice simply because a bridge couldn't be opened in the heat. You managed that very well, though it was a pity that Upton-on-Severn's museum, tourist office and tower were not open on a Wednesday; and I fear we missed out on some of the guided tours we should have had. I found the boat very comfortable (although being a single traveller I had a whole second bed to keep items on!). The food was excellent and the other passengers very congenial (though of course you can't do much about it if any are not), and the variety of places we visited was extremely good. My only (minor) complaint is that you should have given us detailed instructions for finding you, instead of the rather sketchy map you did send, since you apparently can't put up even a single sheet of A4 with your name. Finally, I apologise for losing a quoit overboard. I still don't know what happened - it was not intentional. Kind regards, George Hart PS I may well consider doing a different trip with you next year or later. PPS I took some 100 photos. If you would like to see any of the better ones, please let me know.

A holiday on the "Edward Elgar" is a unique and amazing way to experience the delights of the Severn Vale. The boat is exceptionallly well equipped and very well maintained ,and every single member of the crew worked incredibly hard to ensure that the passengers' requests were dealt with promptly and in a friendly way. Congratulations especially to the chef who provided a variety of delicious meals throughout the cruise and also to Katy and Taylor who were so cheerful and friendly as they went about their daily chores. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of the crew and the passengers were able to relax and enjoy their holiday, knowing that under the command of Matt, ably supported by the First Mate, the boat was in safe and appropriately qualified hands. Especial mention must be made of Conrad - the Jack of all trades and master of all, who switched effortlessly from steering the boat to barman, from giving a presentation on different gins to leading an early;morning walk in the fog, along the tow path to the Purton Wrecks. Always cheerful but equally very professional in all that he did. For us, the passengers, a restful, interesting and all together brilliant holiday. A big thank you to all concerned. that the boat was in safe and appropriately qualified

Overall really enjoyed the cruise - good company of fellow passengers and the crew were all friendly, efficient and helpful. There were a couple of hiccups with our coaches on the first and last outings which you will be aware of but otherwise the trips out were interesting, very good guided tours. Several of us commented it would have been good to have all the crew with us for our final dinner (though we understand the need to give staff decent breaks)

A most enjoyable holiday. Cheerful and friendly staff, excellent catering, and the compact cabins are well-equipped. The many and varied excursions were interesting and well-planned but could be a little tiring for elderly passengers. Disappointed that we couldn't moor at Tewkesbury which resulted in a repeat visit to Upton and a coach journey to Tewkesbury, but still plenty of time to visit the Abbey.

We are thrilled to hear that you had an enjoyable trip with us and that our staff, catering and cabins were satisfactory. While we understand your disappointment that we could not moor at Tewkesbury, we hope that the repeat visit to Upton did not detract too much from your experience. Thank you for your feedback!

An outstanding crew, the interesting river and the nice weather made this an enjoyable but pricey few days.

We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. A great boat with space to relax and enjoy spectacular canal and river views; cabins inevitably small but very well fitted with enough storage space and comfortable beds. A good itinerary with mix of cruising and stops; Worcester was our favourite. Admin prior to the cruise was excellent; staff were efficient, friendly and responsive. The onboard crew - Captain Matt, Conrad, Katie, Tayla and Chef Vinnie (yum yum food) - were a great team and always helpful. We hope to be back onboard again.
