“Camera did t pick up ref when we entered so pressed for a ticket.
Levels in car park said spaces available but they were full - nearest space was level 4!
On leaving, ticket machine said money due was £140! Not expected having pre paid. Attendant was very helpful and checked us through.”
“The instructions for finding the car park entrance are complicated and impossible to read whilst driving. Instead of having clear large letter signs in standard black on white you have adopted corporate coloured signs with what can only be described as microprint from a drivers perspective, especially in the dark at 04:00hrs. As a result I ended up in the drop off car park by mistake. However, the person I called at the barrier leaving the drop off was very helpful and was able to direct me to the right entrance. But again, the poor signage in the multi-story car park let you down again.
I parked on the second floor just off the ramp as the instructions had told me there was a bridge to the terminal. However, the only sign to the bridge was at the far end of the floor and obscured by all the roof beams in between. With no sign of the bridge, I then spent another 10 minutes going down stairwells with no access to the ground floor to cross to the terminal. Having returned via one of these nearer to the bridge I was finally able to use it to access the terminal.
On my return to Edinburgh, the signs for the MS carpark petered out the closer I got and I again found myself in the drop-off zone with no stairwell access to the 2nd floor.
I worked at Heathrow in the 1990s and they had a 'Wayfinding Management' team that workd with customers and organisations to simpify and improve the way people found their way around the airport. You could do with taking a leaf out of their book.
Other than that, the parking was well located, the Fast Track was fast and the airport services were fine and I'll probably be able to find the right route on my next visit - but not because of the signage!”
