A life saver for me until I installed this for my Mother I had endless calls from her demanding I called an engineer to fix her tv as it didn't work dispite me explaining how to use the controls she had, she was convinced it was a faulty tv. Once I setup the new controller (with the help of YouTube video) she is able to cope with the five big buttons to view her favourite programmes. It would be nice if there could be a limit to the volume control went in to see her and the volume had been turn inadvertently extremely high.

This works properly with a combination of Sony TV and virgin box. Beware of cheaper options from other suppliers which don't work.

I had high hopes for this remote, but in the end I had to give up unfortunately. This is because of the type of STB (Set Top Box) that I have, which is a 2020 Sky Q box and remote. The main problem is getting the Flipper to “Learn” the Sky remote system. Firstly, the Sky remote to STB does not use I-R to communicate - it uses Bluetooth (which is radio based) An easy way to tell if your Sky remote is I-R or Bluetooth is to see if the remote has a “Speak to control” button. If it has this, it uses Bluetooth and is therefore (almost) impossible to Learn the Flipper which uses I-R. You can switch the Sky Bluetooth remote to I-R if you know how to do this step (and I do) but you then run the risk of having to reset the settings afterwards to turn it back to Bluetooth. Again, not impossible, but I suspect beyond many casual users. (You may have to reset the TV / STB dual capability of the Sky remote.) Even though I did all of this, Learnt the Flipper with Sky I-R, programmed Favourites etc, I still couldn’t get it to switch channels correctly. I suspect a new Sky Q code needs to be issued beyond the codes on paper and on the website, which only go to 2019. I gave up after about 3 hours of trying with the 2020 Sky system. Having said that, I do know that the Flipper works well using an older Sky system (2019) as I had it working well on this, just not the most recent Sky system (Nov 2020) If any of this is subsequently found to be incorrect, I will be pleased to change my review.

The control was easy to set up and easy to use but I had to get the code for the set top box from the internet as the ones included in the instructions are for USA.

I got this for my mum who is 87 and partially sighted. She was constantly pressing the wrong button on her TV remote. I have to say she loves it, could use it straight away with no problem. I can't say how easy it was to tune in as my nephew did it but he said it was easy to do. Definitely recommend it.
