I'm a female property investor constantly forking out for small plumbing repairs - so wanted to learn to do it myself. It makes financial sense to pay someone to do the work for me. However - because I need to turn up at a property when there is an issue - it makes sense I fix it while I'm there because most times it will be something very simple (but I didn't know how to fix these issues.... Until now!) I was worried about being the only girl, but felt instantly relaxed. Lyndon was a great teacher and good laugh. On the 5 day intensive plumbing course I learned how to fit pipes using soldering and compression fittings, plumb a full bathroom (fitting the pipes through the entire bathroom, plumbing in all taps, putting the toilet together etc), fit radiators, fit a kitchen sink with plumbing (including T-ing off for a washing machine and an outside tap). I've learned a few jobs tradesmen have done for me were nonsense - so now I'm much wiser to what is required (and can do it myself). The biggest surprise was how easy repairing a toilet is. Parts are usually around £10 (£20 max) and they screw in so why waste money having someone come fix it? As soon as I got home I fixed a few issues that had been bugging me for months. I may return to do joinery or learn to fit worktops next. Thanks YTA!

Many thanks for a lovely review Katy, We are glad you enjoyed the plumbing course and already put your skills to good use round your home. Looks like we may see you on the carpentry & joinery course too!
I have completed the 2 week plumbing course, 2 week joinery course and the 5 day kitchen fitting course. What a pleasure it has been. The instructors Scott, Paul and Dave have been excellent and shown excellent knowledge within the courses. There explanations, demonstrations and patience is second to none and give you the best opportunities to learn and improve skills. I have learnt so much within the courses and look forward to what the future brings.

Great course and excellent value for money! The 5 Day Intensive Plumbing Course was very hands-on and easy to follow, even as a beginner. We covered everything from changing taps to fitting sinks, radiators, and bathrooms. My instructor Paul was fantastic – very knowledgeable, patient, and great at explaining things clearly. I finished the course feeling confident to take on plumbing jobs at home and even consider it as a career. Highly recommended!

Needed to learn plastering for a home project and potential future work. Superb course and just what I needed. Great set up and great group of lads who run the courses. Dave the instructor clearly knows his stuff and gives valuable tricks of the trade. The centre itself has a great vibe,.all staff very pleasant. Would definitely recommend and will be hopefully coming back in the new year to undertake a joinery course 👍

Just completed the 5-Day Kitchen Fitting course at YTA with Scott. Being an accountant, I came in with almost zero DIY skills and left feeling genuinely confident enough to fit my own kitchen. Scott was amazing from start to finish. He was patient with my endless questions, always taking the time to explain not just what to do, but why I was making certain mistakes and how to fix them. I really appreciated how many chances he gave me to try again until I got things right. Scott’s real-world experience is second to none. No matter what scenario or problem I threw at him, he had a practical solution ready. The little tips and tricks he shared are going to make a massive difference when I come to fit a kitchen on my own. I thought I’d learned a lot from watching videos beforehand, but the hands-on, face-to-face teaching was on a completely different level. He even helped me set up and use my own worktop-cutting tool that I brought in, which was above and beyond what I expected. I took away so much from the course, and I’m sure I’ll be back when time allows to take on another one. I was so focused and engaged throughout the week that I didn’t even think about, let alone worry about, my normal day job, which says everything about how enjoyable and immersive the training was. I also had the chance to observe the plastering course during the week. Dave, the instructor, was fantastic too — friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to explain what to expect on the plastering course. He even offered me some great advice for a renovation project I’ve got coming up. Overall, an excellent experience at YTA with brilliant instructors. Highly recommended to anyone looking to gain real, practical skills.

I’ve just completed the 5-day kitchen installation course with Scott, and I couldn’t be more impressed. From start to finish, the training was engaging, hands-on, and incredibly informative. Scott has a true gift for teaching—he’s patient, knowledgeable, and explains each step clearly, making even the more complex techniques feel manageable. What stood out most was Scott’s real-world experience. He shared practical tips, industry insights, and clever problem-solving methods that you simply can’t learn from a book or online video. The workshop atmosphere was welcoming and supportive, and Scott made sure I felt confident and involved, regardless of prior skill level. By the end of the week, I felt genuinely prepared to take on a kitchen installation on my own. I’ve gained not only new skills, but also a new level of confidence. I highly recommend this course to anyone considering it—whether you’re just starting out or looking to enhance your existing abilities. Scott is an excellent instructor, and the experience is well worth it!

I did the 10 day Level 1 Carpentry and Joinery course with Scott. He is an amazing teacher and went above and beyond to teach me as much as he could while keeping it fun and interesting and challenging. He is very knowledgeable and very good at showing and explaining everything. I highly recommend this course. I now feel confident to tackle projects on my own.

i signed up for 4 weeks of courses, and got one week free...i started with the 2 week joinery course and it was spot on. Had a good laugh with Scott the whole 2 weeks and learned the basics in the first week, and second week made myself a 6 foot garden gate to bring home, and learned how to make a roof, as well as a few other things i asked Scott to help me learn. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he even noticed how disorganised i am and recommended a tool belt as i kept losing my tools every 30 seconds. I'll be back for the kitchen fitting week with Scott next month, as well as doing a week tiling and a week plastering.....hopefully i'll be able to do all the little jobs on my rental property going forwards and won't have to rely on unreliable builders or get ripped off for the jobs i'll be able to do. Looking forward to getting back and completing that last 3 weeks!

After so many tilers letting me down or not turning up to tile my bathroom, I decided that I would learn to do this myself. I learned invaluable knowledge and little helpful tricks along the way that have made me feel competent after undertaking my tiling course and now I am really looking forward to completing my project myself. I enjoyed the course so much that I am considering taking on a few tiling jobs also. The tutors at YTA are all wonderful - I had such a fun week, getting to know everyone and taking on board tips from each instructor, who were able to add something new to each step along the way. I left with a really comprehensive knowledge base and feel confident moving forward. Thank you to Dave, Scott & Paul for making me feel so welcome and competent in my own abilities.

Scott the instructor is helpful, friendly, with a hands-off approach that encourages you to get the most out of your time. A great experience that I would recommend to anyone looking for a jump-start in joinery and basic carpentry.

Attended 10 day NOCN Cskills Level 1 Accredited Carpentry and Joinery Course in November 2024. Excellent course with immediate practical applications on-the-job. Friendly, supportive trainer with years of direct experience in carpentry and joinery. Well-paced learning, with honest assessments of skill and progress along the way, and opportunities to try out tasks and equipment beyond the accreditation units.

I attended the 5 day joinery course last week. The tutor Scott was great, and I learned a lot throughout the week. Scott is an experienced tradesman, as well as a teacher. Because of this, he was able to explain how the skills learned on the course can be transferred to site environment. The work areas provide enough space for learning, but also encourage you to be sociable with other people on the course. The other tutors were also really helpful, but credit to Scott in particular. I booked to learn new skills, and feel that I definitely achieved this. I would recommend YTA to others.

I’ve left emails , left phone messages directly to yta phone and messaged them directly on instagram and had no response what so ever !! Pretty shocking to say when I was enquiring about the course to start with they was quite quick in responding !! Either way I want my certificate !! Anyone thinking about doing this course should rethink , because so far I’m not getting no where except messed around !! My names Shane Jackson and I did the course with Dave hill !!!!
