The doctor carrying out the appointment was great but my time was for 11:00 am and I was not seen till 11:45 am. Then on Oct 30 I received a letter from Getting a Medical dated Oct 25th telling me to arrange a medical. I phoned your department to ask if it was just a circular and if I should ignore it The receptionist said she would look into it and someone would phone me back. The call back I received from a different member was unhelpful. She said it was nothing to do with Getting a Medical and that I had to phone the DVLA. I explained that the letter was not from the DVLA but from Getting a Medical but she did not change her stance. I then spent over an hour trying to get through to the DVLA who proved to be just as useless when I got in contact with them.

Great Doctor who accommodated my medical despite him not being informed of my booking !! Most dissatisfied with the administration.

The staff who undertook the medical were fantastic, attentive and caring. The process for booking and those taking calls were atrocious. When I initially called I was advised the closest appointment was in Guiford, literally another country from where I live. I was then told to simply call back later in the month in the hopes more appointments were available. Instead of waiting I called the provider, Jura HEalth in Perth, who advised that they would request an appointment for me, which then happened and meant I was able to get an appointment in my country of residence within a reasonable time frame. Why did I, a customer, have to organise your booking system?

I attended my appointment, a medical requested by the DVLA, the location of the medical was not easy to find at all. I knocked on a door and the person that answered said it happens all the time and this was not the right location. So I think it may be wise to address this issue. When I got the the correct location the woman that greeted me was not very welcoming. I got the impression that she looked down on me for the circumstance of the medical. Although I passed my test I would like to add. When I eventually got into the room where I was to be examined and questioned the woman in here was actually rather pleasant and made me feel a lot more relaxed about the situation. Overall it was already an unpleasant situation and the staff did not help this. I didn’t have a choice about where to attend but if you do somewhere else may be a more pleasant.

Doctor on call did not appear to experienced within the medical environment in which the appointment took place. She was on the phone a couple of times asking colleagues where equipment was etc. The urine sample also had to take place in communal toilets on the other side of the building whereby doctor and patient had to walk through two waiting rooms, one with several patients awaiting their appointment, with samples which I found odd and others may have found embarrassing. All in all I did not find it a professional set up.

Hi Benjamin, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we appreciate any feedback we get. We usually have kits stored at the venue, but on this occasion, we had a new delivery of kits which were stored in a different room than usual. Regarding the toilets, the clinic serves multiple services, hence the different waiting rooms, we try to manage ours in the most efficient way possible. Please rest assured we have taken your feedback on board.

The medical person would not listen to anything I was saying and was basically hushing me. I suffer with Bi Polar and ADHD so sometimes I need people to listen. He filled in my form himself regarding my mental health issues by simply writing GP. Why wasn’t I allowed to explain why I was on meds etc. I was diagnosed with Bi Polar and ADHD a few years ago at the age of 44. I have drive since I was 17 and these Disorders are all from childhood. He would not let me be able to tell him any information. It was all one sided and I felt really uncomfortable at not being able to give some background. I noticed when signing form he had not listed my Disorders on form. I told him too and he did. This was about to be sent to DVLA who have revoked my licence due to these. It would have looked liked I had not declared, yet I wasn’t asked any questions apart from my medication. He needs to listen and let people feel they have done enough to support Application. By not talking to me, he never got a look at how stable I am in everything I say. This maybe the usual method, if it is. It’s not nice at all on my side of table and you feel quite worthless as the Doctor will not engage in any conversation with you however short although it was all Application related. I am not someone who really ever complains but as you can see I didn’t feel comfortable at all and once in the Car with my Wife I was shocked in how ignorant he was. Yours truly Mark

Hi Mark, I am sorry to hear that this was your experience, understandably these examinations can be a little stressful for some individuals. Please rest assured we have gone over your medical form and everything has been recorded correctly regarding your diagnosis. Furthermore, the examination we conduct is where we gather the information available and it is then passed on to the DVLA to make the ultimate decision. In instances where more information is needed we ask the DVLA to refer to the patient's GP, hence why this was written. In the future, we advise you to bring someone along with you to the medical if this helps you, for any additional support. Once again, please accept our apologies if the medical wasn't as you expected and hope the above clarifies any concerns.

Hi Nicholas, Thank you for taking the time out to leave us some feedback. Your paper work was sent out as advised by our customer care team soon after the clinic. We also resent this to the DVLA again once you called. DVLA are dealing with a huge backlog at the moment which may explain the delay.

I was very disappointed that the medical practitioner entered the building and proceeded to speak to the receptionist without a mask and went to the room. She reappeared with a mask on. This was whilst masks were compulsory. It was very expensive for what was provided.

Due to the Dr writing that I had problems with my eye sight. And DVLA would not issue a licence. But I had already had eyes tested three weeks before and told that nothing had change in 5 years. So a bit of time and £11.00 more I received my licence.

I was told I would get the results in 2 weeks and I finally got the results 4 months later. This has caused a lot of unnecessary stress and worry as I have an anxiety disorder. So I would rate my experience as poor. However I will say the doctor I saw was very professional and put my nerves at ease hence why I added a star. Thank you.
