"We loved it here\r\nA really warm friendly place with beautiful surroundings. We had a fantastic room and the breakfast was expansive. We would both love to go back. I would search wowcher for a cheaper deal and maybe book 2 nights next time to allow for more time in the facilities "

"A wonderful place to visit. Kept very well, clean and staff lovely and knowledgeable. All areas very clean and good prices on the tea, coffee and snacks. Animals well kept, mostly small animals to look at. Experiences at \u00a330 per person . We loved spending 3 hours there.\r\n Over 100 species of animals, including lemurs, meerkats, monkeys, wallabies, alpacas, armadillos, reptiles, birds and many endangered species. \r\n* A wallaby walk-through area where you can get surprisingly close to the animals. \r\n* Keeper talks and animal demonstrations throughout the day. \r\n* Small play areas for children. \r\n* Picnic areas, gardens and grounds to explore. \r\n\r\nWhat makes it different?\r\n\r\nIt\u2019s actually a training zoo for animal-care students, so many of the keepers are students learning animal management. Visitors can chat to staff and learn about the animals and conservation work. \r\n\r\nExtra experiences\r\n\r\nYou can book special experiences such as:\r\n\r\n* Feeding meerkats\r\n* Lemur encounters\r\n* Zoo keeper experiences\r\n* Reptile experiences\r\n\r\nThese are separate from normal admission. \r\n\r\nIs it worth it?\r\n\r\nFor younger children, definitely. It\u2019s not as big as places like Chester Zoo, but it\u2019s much more manageable for a half-day outing and is usually considered good value. Most families spend around 2\u20133 hours there. \r\n\r\nThe zoo itself is Northumberland College Zoo at Kirkley Hall near Ponteland, about 35\u201340 minutes from Corbridge. 15 min from Newcastle.\r\n\r\nFor today, I\u2019d recommend aiming to arrive in time for any keeper talks and the wallaby walk-through, as those tend to be children\u2019s favourites. "
