True Traveller - Travel Insurance designed by Travellers

When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“True Traveller have literally thought of everything for backpacker insurance. It was very easy to get a quote that covered me for everything including trekking in Nepal! I haven’t needed to claim yet but the competitive price and great reviews reassured me I’m in good hands. Thank you True Traveller!”

“I am currently travelling around India, Sri Lanka and Nepal for 6 months. I am doing surfing and other adventure activities. I already have 'annual, multi trip travel insurance' through another company. What I did not realise was that, `annual, multi trip travel insurance', only covers 90 day trips to and from the UK. This meant that i was not covered by my travel insuranve as my trip is now longer than 90 days. As any traveller knows, that travel insurance is super important. One of the main reasons i feel is for medical bills. Especially when in a plave like Asia you want the piece of mind that whatever happens you are covered. Whether it is get the best treatment possible, while on holiday or getting repatriated home. As i am already outside the UK it is harder to get travel insurance. As a 'True Traveller' I needed to get travel insurance, but as any traveller knows doing administrative tasks is not fun and can take up time. What made using 'True Traveller' easy was that i could do everything off my phone. I searched into google 'Travel insurance while abroad'. After ignoring the suggested ads, 'True Traveller' was the first to come up. Putting my information into tbe quote generater was easy, clear and the 'What is covered' information was very clearly shown, especially the Sports/activities that are covered. Within 5 minutes i had a quote. The price was very fair, as i asked my mate i am travelling with how much he paid for his insurance before coming on the trip, after some quick maths we figured out it was the same price. Which was amazing. As i was worried i was going to have to pay alot more for the privallege if getting travel insyrance while abroad. As a 'True Traveller' I saved the quote and looked at other comapnies on google to comosre prices to see if any money could be saved. Other sites could not work on my phone, others wanted more and more information. Other sites were very expensive, but also did not clearly state what was covered. As all of this takes time i dismissed other sites very quickly. When coming back to the 'True Traveller' site it again was quick and easy to get my quote back, pay online and recieve the email with the travel documents. This has now allowed me to go back to having fun while travelling knowing that i am fully covered for anything that might happen while i am away from home.”

“A great insurance company, I have used them over several years now. Its always been quick and easy to communication over the phone or by email. Claims are easy to file and quick to be resolved. I especially like the no excess fee waver you can pay. It makes claiming much more stress free. They also provide excellent coverage, with good extras to opt in and out of. Highly recommended”

“I found the whole process of buying this insurance really easy and clear. The different options and levels of insurance were very clear. As part of my trip I am doing a lot of trekking and I am already abroad so I was aware that many standard insurances would insure me. I was reassured with all the options that the true traveller provide and I am now correctly covered.”

“Bought insurance for a trekking trip to Nepal. Settled on True Traveller after weeks of looking for an insurer that would cover trekking above 4500 metres. very few companies covered treks to this altitude, or if they did it was very unclear. True Travellers site made all the info regarding cover easy to find, i did not feel that anything was hidden. the cost was more than you would pay less adventurous trips but i believe its very fair for the cover provided.”

“I just purchased True Traveller insurance for my trip to Canada. The online process is simple and quick, far less stressful than I had anticipated. I emailed the company to confirm that peanut allergies were covered under the medical and received a response the next morning confirming that it was. Whilst my insurance has not yet been activated I would highly recommend True Traveller based on my interactions with them thus far and the comments given by other participant in the IEC program.”

“I was insured with true traveller whilst in Canada, I sadly ran into problems when I was rushed into hospital with kidney stones, True traveller were incredible at getting back to me! I submitted a claim afterwards, they even paid for the medication I had to take afterwards! I’m spending another year in Canada and have chosen true traveller again for my insurance because they are brilliant and actually care about their customers! Great customer service, incredible cover!”

“Good user interface, it was easy to select length of insurance, excess and activities. Very clear layout and immediate update of the cost of my insurance so easy to compare prices. “We subscribed true traveller when we were already abroad. Our previous insurance stopped working as it has already been 2 years passed, and as long-term travelers and no flyers, we really wanted to be fully insured for our trip. Not only true traveller accepted to insure us without a return flight ticket, they also provide a large choice of options to fit our needs (ie. we don't need to be insured for flight delay/cancellation). Subscription was easy, and true traveller interface is simple use. Their customers service is also great, providing us a support within a day. Thanks again!”
