“Good quality beam and the instructions made it simple to put up ourselves. The colour was different than I was expecting but it’s hard to judge from pictures online. Aside from that, we’re very happy with our beam!”

Hi Kelly, thanks for leaving us some feedback, we are happy to hear you are happy with the quality of your beam and you found our installation instructions easy to follow. As stated in the product listing as Oak is a natural product each piece can differ with regards to knots/cracks/grain and colour, it all depends on what tree they have been cut from - some pieces are naturally darker/lighter than others, we do try to advertise this the best we can on our website. In addition to this the top photo is from our old colour range and we do advise not to go by one particular photo as they could have been installed in the customers home for a longer period of time and adjusted slightly. If you were unsure of your colour choice by the swatches and got in touch with us we would have happily advised this information and sent over our colour chart to help and you further. Overall we are happy to hear you are happy with the end result of your beam :)

“Happy with the look of the beam it's quality, however although I accept its going to be heavy, only two brackets for installation, bear in mind the length I would have been happier with a third bracket for added security.”

Hello, Thank you for the review. We are pleased you are happy with the look of your beam. The amount of brackets does change depending on the length supplied. For beams 4ft and over we supply 3 brackets and 4 brackets with beams over 5.5ft. The brackets are capable of holding up to 35kg of weight between 2 so they can be deceiving the strength of which they hold. I have taken look at your order and the beam you purchased will weigh approximately 18kg so the 2 fixings provided will hold your beam with ease. :) I hope this helps. Many thanks Rebecca

“My beam arrived as agreed. Due to delivery being so close to Christmas we decided to wait until after this time to install our beam. The beam is good quality, however for us we were hoping for a more rustic look and not the polished front we have. It may be I have chosen the wrong beam for us.”

Hello, Thank you for the review. All of our beams are finished the same way... finished in a coat of wax which is applied after the colour stain. This is the same on all of our photos online however as it ages and settles in your home any polished finish will dull down making it appear more rustic / matt so please don't worry about it having a polished appearance as this will die down. The beam you ordered was sanded to a smooth finished whereas we do have aged products which have a brushed finish raising the grain slightly giving the beam more texture. The wax provides a more durable finish than the stain alone. If you need any more help just let us know. Thanks, Rebecca.

“I am very pleased with my beam. I didn’t find the ordering side very easy, I think the website needs more detailed examples re finish, sizing etc. I ended up making a cardboard mock-up to work out the size I wanted! I had to wait ages for it. Anyway I am very happy with the size and how it looks over my fire. We were a bit shocked by the splitting across the whole beam and I had to reassure hubby it was normal! Just hope it doesn’t eventually split in half. 🤞 it has made our fireplace!! ❤️”

Hello, thanks for leaving us some feedback and for providing us with a photo. I am sorry to hear you had troubles following the measurements on our website, a tape measure is advised to be used when you are trying to clarify what size suits your fireplace, if you had contacted us we would have gladly helped and offered our advice. As Oak is a natural product natural cracks are to be expected, in all of our years of training we have never had a beam split in half so not to worry about that :) its great to hear you are happy with the end result our Oak Beam adds bags of character to your fireplace :)

“The beam I received was aesthetically very appealing. The aged look was exactly what I was after. The finish was fine, & in line with the overall look. I had an email conversation with Traditional Beams, just to verify size & fixings etc, which was drama free & easy. My only slight niggle, was the lead time. Would have been great to have had it delivered a little sooner but I guess it very much depends on demand. Overall, very good & I will use again when the need arises. Martin.”

“Ordered an over fire place beam. When it arrived it really did not look like the rustic version we had ordered. To their credit, with no hassle at all, Traditional Beams agreed with us, made us another, swapped them over and the new one was perfect. Great customer service.”

“Absolutely gorgeous, quality stained pine floating shelves, complete with all the equipment for fitting. We're so happy with how they look on the wall. Only negative was that one of the pre-drilled holes for fitting it into the wall wasn't quite at the same level as the other so was a challenge to get it straight.”

“No problem with the quality of the product, slightly disappointed with the colour of the finish, it’s darker than we thought. I did ask prior to purchase for samples or swatches, but none where available. Still looks nice though 😀”

We are sorry to hear you were a bit disappointed with your colour finish, our offices are still closed due to Covid19 so are unable to send samples at the moment, however you were emailed our colour chart which gives a good indication of our colour range, we do also have a returns policy. “Great set of shelves, the rugger brown finish looks good on a white wall. Only issue is the brackets are not all uniform - this adds to the rustic effect but can be a bit off-putting when installing the shelves! Good communication on order progress throughout.”
