“Good service. Prompt delivery. Can’t vouch for taste as had it sent to my daughter who lives a long distance away. It was a treat for her -during this time of separation. She seemed to enjoy it very much as everything is there already - so no need to go out and buy special ingredients , and the flavour is so authentic!”

“I am used to cooking from scratch, I've been doing it for nearly 60 years. However the precise instuctions seemed to make it more difficult rather than easier. The end result was very good and I still have 5 more to make. I put 2 of them in the freezer but will make the other 3 in the next week or so. I have a string of garlic in my kitchen, so to get 3 cloves in the pack was amusing but I realise that not everyone would have garlic. I also had other spices, cloves, cardamom etc so won't be buying again. But it would be great for less experienced cooks.”

“These were really delicious cooked fresh however the fresh ingredients didnt freeze well. If we could buy them fresh in the supermarket we would buy more but you need to buy a few packs to keep the cost down and we cant use them within the date.”

Hi thanks for the review, we are pleased to hear that you found our curry kits tasty. We recommend that if you need to freeze your kits that you cook them from frozen instead of defrosting them before cooking. Hopefully this is useful information.

Hi George, thanks for the review. Pleased to hear that you enjoyed cooking with us. As for the use by date all our ingredients are fresh and there is the option to freeze the kits, if you do decide to do this we advise cooking the kits from frozen instead of defrosting them.

“This is the second time I have purchased sound 6 to 8 packets of Tastesmiths products. Superbly delivered and exceptional taste quality. Short dates due to the products being freshly made for each recipe, however, easy to freeze and defrost when needed. I asked for 'surprises' amongst my order and it is great to find something you were not expecting. All eagerly awaiting to be used. The Goan Curry is our favourite, but the other packs are almost equally as good.”

“Had the Korma which was superb,such a improvement from the spice jar type and even some of the restaurants.we also had the Makhini which was very good but i have nothing to compare it to,all in all a welcome change.”

“At first the kits were great do much so I had a monthly order but after a couple of months found I wasn't getting to use them so stopped my order. The quality of the last couple was not I felt the high standard it was at the beginning, the ginger was woody and the garlic didn't seem to be as fresh. Maybe due to what appeared to be lots of orders and fewer staff during the lockdown perioy. Not saying I won't use again, I did enjoy what I had immensely”

As we're purely fresh, there can be occasional fluctuations in the spices, wether by supplier or season. “Very good authentic taste! Instructions easy to understand and it’s really nicely packaged! However I wouldn’t recommend freezing as the ingredients come out very soggy? Use from the fridge!”

“I ordered a pack of 6 but they all came with a sell by date of within 8 days. It said it was okay to freeze the packs so that is what I did. However, when I came to use them the ginger was too soft to grate or even chop. The chillis were also mushy and the seeds had turned black. I wouldn’t recommend buying them unless you intend to use them within a few days.”

Hi Deborah, when freezing the kits we recommend not defrosting - this will solve the issue of soft/mushiness you experienced, frozen ginger very tough - hence the need for a grater over a knife. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review here, glad you enjoyed the final results even if the process wasn't quite as you'd expect.

“Goan fish curry was out of this world.. sauce is outstanding, and very easy to make. Sadly I can’t say same for Persian Khoresh.. I followed instructions to the letter but it only tasted ‘ok’. Didn’t feel the effort of making it was worth the end result. Hoping the others in the pack are on par with the Goan curry 🤞🙏🏻”

“I like them and have ordered more than once , only issue is I seem to always have water split from the sauce , am I doing something wrong?”
