“found a cottage we liked , easy to book via website , kept informed as the holiday got closer , accurate description of cottage ,pricing needs reviewing too many places hanging onto post covid pricing .”
“We stayed at the Coach House in Alnmouth. Excellent location in the centre of the village and blessed with off-road parking. Comfortable and well-equippped. Good bathroom and bedrooms with comfy beds. Clean and tidy on arrival. Recommended.”
“We have stayed in this flat a number of times and it never fails to thrill ! The quite amazing location and view ……… the Dart , the boats , the all day activity of the area is yours to watch 24/7 ! The flat is super comfy and well equipped. A note of warning though. To get the view of your dreams and to watch the world and the weather go by you have to climb quite a few stairs! Also , if en-suite bathrooms ( plural) is your absolute requirement then this flat is not for you . For all other folks wanting a perfect location for all that Dartmouth has to offer and a spacious base , you’ve got it here !!!”
“Sykes are so easy to browse and book with constant updates on your booking. All properties I have booked with them have been fantastic so cannot fault them at all. I would definitely recommend sykes cottages to anyone looking for a holiday”
“Was pleased with property and location, but disappointed with main bedroom, as had to clean it the next morning, as full of cobwebs and dust on walls and side lamps, so gave it a deep clean, and hoverd up to corners.”
“Well maintained, spacious and conveniently situated. Couldn't fault it.
First train around 08:30, last train around 22:30, so not an issue regards disturbed sleep.
Would use again if in Whitby.”
“We look forward to our return visit in the autumn, every year. We are never disappointed - only that we have to leave at the end of our stay! Rose Cottage is always beautifully presented, immaculately clean and so welcoming. It is situated at the heart of the village enabling us to benefit from the thriving village store, two restaurants and a friendly pub which also serves good meals!
Whilst reluctant to leave we know it won't be long before we book Rose Cottage once again - such a treat to anticipate. Thanik you to the marvellous cleaning team and most of all, to the very generous owners who allow us to stay at Rose Cottage.”
“We feel you should check out the cottages you recommend.
When we give a review it should be acknowledged and replied too.
If there is a problem and a customer complains at least you should acknowledge it and reply.
We complained in January about pilots cottage Alnmouth. We had trouble with no heating and also workmen turning up unexpected to attend to replace lintel on upstairs window early morning. Having breakfast with workmen looking in not acceptable. We complained and both occasions got no apology. We have used Sykes cottages a number of times. Do something about reviews and complaints don’t just ask for reviews without doing anything to address issues.
Is that a good enough review? Are we wasting our time doing a review?”
“The Byre was an absolute delight. Loads of wildlife just the other side of the glass door.
Perfect hosts Phillip Kirsten and Rossie and the delightful Dottie. Loads of places to explore beaches landmarks and beautiful scenery. Can't wait to visit again.”
“We have about 4 holidays a year with Sykes and recently had to cancel one booked for this coming November due to very sad personal reasons. I was told I would loose all the money I had paid which was a good few hundred pounds, there was no listening to me or understanding. The week we had booked has now been taken by someone else.
My point here is why should the owner, or Sykes benefit twice for this week, I believe that if our week could not be re-booked then yes I loose my money but if it gets booked again and paid for again, which it has, then why shouldn't I recieve my money back? Minus an admin fee maybe!!!
I would like to hear why this is and who profits from situations like this and not just the usual policy response.
Show some compassion, it's not all about profit, or is it??”
