“Lodges need updating in many ways . Bathroom desperately needs update. Bedding towels and bathmat all need replacing . Other than that we enjoyed our stay .”
“Booked our accommodation which was cancelled a few hours later
Couldn’t get through to anyone on the phone and it took days to receive an email telling me that my money would take 10 days to refund. So you had my money in full for a maximum of 14 days for something that was oretty much immediately cancelled”
“Our visit to Shamrock, Barlby, wasn't as expected. It is in the middle of a housing estate & by a busy main road.
The cottage furniture is a little dated but serviceable.
The cooking facilities left a little to be desired, the hob was difficult to use & the oven needed a good clean.
The Bedroom is large & the bed is 2 singles put together.
The shower room is very good although the toilet is very low & difficult for me, as a disabled person, to use. Grab rails would be beneficial.
Unfortunately the owner didn't visit so we didn't get to chat to her.
That said we still enjoyed our week in North Yorkshire.”
“A very good range of quality options across UK but would suggest a filter to include accessability for disabled particulaly, walk in showers, ground floor toilets, parking and xteps/stairs”
“Amazing house!! Was absolutely perfect for our large family holiday. 10 adults, 2 small children and 1 dog. There were 5 beautiful bedrooms, 3 en-suite and a separate bathroom with shower. The dining / sitting room was a fabulous family space, if anyone wanted time out there was a lounge with TV and in the very well equipped kitchen another dining space with TV. Everything you could possibly need was in the kitchen.
The outside area was magnificent. The views from the house were incredible. There was a really large hot tub, 3 sitting areas and 4 sunbeds so plenty of outdoor space, there was a lovely grassed area for the children to play in, the only issue for us was keeping the children safe from all the steps around the property. Lots of steps down to the grassed area where you can also get access to the outdoor room that has a pool table, table tennis and air hockey.
You can walk down to the tarka trail and into Instow. Bideford Town is literally 10 minute walk away and there is a path to get there. Close to Appledore, Woolacombe, Ilfracombe, Barnstaple and a National trust Arlington Court. We visited The Big Sheep, our grandsons (2 year old) loved it.
Overall the house was incredible, we all loved it and with the great weather we felt very lucky to have been allowed into such a beautiful house.
One thing to note, very important. Is that the gates to the property open outward so don't get close to them as you push the buttons on the pad!!!!”
“Excellent choice of properties. Clear and true photos. Detailed information of the properties and surrounding areas. Easy to use website and good updates and communication from Sykes Cottages throughout the whole process. Would recommend.”
“Old orchard wasn’t one of the best houses we have stayed in, the furnishings was very tired and needed changing, the garden was very overgrown and the house had not been cleaned, upstairs toilet door kept opening, leak in conservotory, side gate had to use a knife to open/close it, pair of pants on the decking, mat in living room , corners was turned up so people could trip on it, broken chair pushed up the hole in the decking rail. The only good thing was the location.”
“Just stayed at Watermouth Castle with my son for a last minute break for 3 nights. The accommodation is wonderful, we stayed in the West Tower and really recommend it. I’d give it 5/5 except, the water pressure in the shower is none existent so it was difficult to wash/rinse hair but that’s literally the only negative. Can’t recommend the place highly enough, we had a lovely time.”
