“Have always found Sykes helpful and easy to use for holiday bookings. I do wonder though whether they periodically check cottage descriptions against actual conditions because the last cottage we booked has several discrepancies in the published description.”
“Lots of cottages available on their website, easy to book the one you want, pay a deposit and then pay the balance a few weeks before you go.
They send you emails to keep you up to date with your booking. The day before you arrive you get an email to confirm how to get the keys, entry and exit dates and times.
I have booked another house for March 2026.”
“We had a lovely break, the cottage had everything we needed. It is so peaceful there. It had a friendly pub next door that sold excellent food. We would of liked coasters for drinks but improvised with placemats. Mum at 84 found the doors hard to open,but we realised they were fire doors, also lack of air at night in the bedrooms. Your maitenance staff were very helpful with a problem we had.”
“Clean cottage, shame it has a bore hole for water which was a pain as water for 2days was intermittent, although the owner was helpful, left a day early as there is an oak tree over the cabin( metal roof and acorns dropping night and day)so no sleep for 2days”

Prices are clear enough although a lot are rather steep for Autumn & winter time I think.
After booking, communication is very good with all the relevant information required.
Travel and cancellation insurance is offered aswell, but again a bit pricey so shop around.
Most complaints seem to be around cleanliness of some properties but not sure if this is under Sykes' control or the owners?.
Have used them quite a few times over the years though and had no issues with anywhere we have stayed.”

“Our apartment was perfect for 2 people. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was well stocked with essentials - soap, kitchen roll, detergent, cloths etc, as well as a welcome pack of milk , tea and coffee and wine! We particularly appreciated it being pet free. Easy free parking on site and well situated to see all the Northumberland coastal sites. Good food in the village pub and cafe too. We would happily stay there again.”
“We have used Sykes many times over the years and nearly always been very happy with them (the one exception being the owner of a cottage in Scotland who was very nasty after we had to cancel due to a road accident.
Our latest experience was Little Roskrow near Falmouth in Cornwall in September- and excellent cottage for two with very friendly owners. We were very happy with the whole experience from first booking to the end of our visit and would be more than happy to return if visiting the area again”
“Received an email from Sykes to say that we had a £40 discount to use on our next booking. After doing the said booking we tried to apply the code for the £40 discount only to be told we were getting £25 discount and no other discount could be applied. Now that’s fair enough: £40 on top of £25 is not to be expected, however we assumed that the £25 would not be applied and the £40 would be in its place. As stated this did not happen. Really poor to offer something and then not give it. Not impressed!”
