“Salakee is absolutely perfect for a family holiday with it being literally on the beach.
Its really is a home from home fully equipped with everything you need. It was also spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. If you want to eat out there is Stonesreef nearby and The Welloe.
To be able to sit out on the patio with the views and the sound of the sea was amazing.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend.”
“What a wonderful place to stay! My wife and I, 6 year old boy and Spaniel stayed in August. The cottage had everything you need and more. It’s set in a lovely quiet location 10 minutes walk from the beach at Gwithian. It’s situated in a nature reserve and the walks through this to the beach are truly lovely. The private enclosed garden was ideal for the dog as we were able to leave the doors to the living room and front door open to allow him to wander in and out to the garden when we were there. There is a small shop at a holiday campsite opposite the lane leading up to the property which was ideal for getting milk, bread and other things. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom downstairs was not a problem and the stairs were not that steep like other review state. Apart from the bathroom, the cottage is carpeted throughout. We loved our stay and will be back for sure.”
“We've stayed at Sykes properties 3 times now and they provide excellent quality and value for money. The app is excellent and it's brilliant to be able to filter on your most important criteria. For us, the most important is an EV charging point and being able to search only for properties with chargers is essential.”
“Fantastic barn conversion with all mod cons. Loved it. Great base from which to explore the amazing local beaches and historic attractions. Far enough away from busy Seahouses to be tranquil but close enough for the town’s restaurants, boat trips, amenities and shops. Recommend the sunset cruise from Seahouses harbour.”
“This was our third visit to Trefor , my daughter and granddaughter and I love this cottage. It is tastefully furnished and Ann pays great attention to detail, there is nothing lacking, it is very comfortable . Always lovely goodies on the table and Ann gives us such a warm welcome and is always available if we need her. The best cottage we have ever stayed in .”
“Have enjoyed several trips now booked with Sykes Cottages. All have been great, quality accommodations, and the booking processes and communications have been spot on.. thank you!”
“We had a fabulous stay at the smugglers shack. The booking was very straightforward and the details were useful for our stay. The location of the holiday park was excellent to explore the area locally and more further afield.”
“Unfortunately Sykes cottages being only the middle liaison for independent property rentals have limited to no resources and resolutions when any issues or problems with a rental cottages arise. Our recent holiday was ruined due to many issues. The Killiow lodge at Truro advertised as 5 star was in fact dirty, faulty with many items broken including a washing machine that leaked twice. The lodge needed a refurb. A embarrassing maximum refund of 9.6% was offered for the inconvenience. Sykes informed us to contact an external legal source regarding our concerns if we didn't take the 9.6% 'good will gesture'. Sykes terms and conditions take away all accountability from them, be warned. Sykes can't actually give you any service or guarantee you will actually get the standard of cottage you are led to believe when booking. The photos used are misleading, they're not recent but years old. We will never book with Sykes again.”
“Very nice cottage with complete amenities, lovely views, I can say one of the best cottages I lived.
Just need a little more attention to clean the birds dropping on stairs railing and some instructions about how to operate garage door and rubbish, however I will still give full stars and will love to come back.”
“We had a lovely stay at piglet cottage. The property was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. A lovely welcome basket too. My only concern was that the garden was not fully enclosed for dogs that can jump (low wall and fences) and whilst it’s a fairly quiet road the cars that did come through were fast so we kept the dogs indoors which was a shame but the rest of the property was very dog friendly and lots was provided for them.”
“Needs a lot of upgrades. Shower was faulty, some of the heaters did not work and sparked. The cooker oven needed a good clean and kept setting off the smoke alarm. There was a bad smell in the bathroom and most of the decor inside and out needs modernising. The front door was not secure and the lock barrel was loose.
The complex was in a good location next to the bridal way that led all the way into keswick.”
“The coach house was a lovely place to stay. It had every facility needed. It was surrounded by fields and on the outskirts of Newton Stewart for the shopping.”
