Much of the content covered ground I was already familiar with, but I still picked up a few useful tips - especially around competency answers. “This course was the best thing could have happened to me at the start of this year. I am very happy that I accepted to do it. The tutor is a very patient person , helpful and friendly.”
“There was a lack of structure signaling from the beginning and during the week. Signposting what was going to be covered and so navigating the course would have create much needed context.
45 min to generate the cover letter and CV were inadequate, particularly for those who were starting from scratch.
Additionally, time set aside to focus on pieces of work were frequently interrupted with attendees have personal conversations with the trainer. Some housekeeping rules up front about how to relay private issues directly would have helped.
There was also a time when the trainer interrupted unnecessarily and completely broke the flow of a participant who was feeding back. They should have been allowed to finish and the feedback given at the end.
Also, one of the presenters, a civil service employee, spoke for 45 min and didn't engage well with his camera being turned off and his tone seemed somewhat arrogant.
All told I'm not sure the course successfully convinced me to apply for jobs with the civil service and the only takeaway of value was the use of STAR method.”
