“I think the Strive training is a very important part of the UK jobseeker's landscape. However, experience has taught me that any course rises and falls with the tutor.
Trina Brady is an amazing tutor. She is human and professional, a knowledgable keeper and a gently firm taskmistress (master? sorry not trying to offend any genders), all rolled up in one. Ours was a diverse group with some strong characters and some heavy accents, in addition to a broad range of individual experiences and needs. Trina was skilled at taking everybody along, even with very differing speeds and in some cases (including mine) special needs. She pays attention to details and incoporates her knowledge of the individuals in the group in the delivery, pacing and organisation (eg whom she teams up in breakout rooms) of the course.
At every juncture Trina was positive, supportive and vertiably encouraging and nurturing and her sense of humour was a nother plus. She is a huge asset to the country and the DWP, as well us to those of us who have had the pleasure and privilege of partaking of the repository of knowledge that she is.
Given the intensity of the Strive Training (great name, by the way!) in terms of the amount of crucial information imparted all day long for an entire week, we might have been overwhelmed by it all, and at times we were. Trina was experienced at sensing tension, changing pace and encouraging rest where it was necessary.
I had become somewhat cynical about certain aspects of being a jobseeker, especially a mature one, and I have come away from the Strive Training reassured and re-energised to go seek employment, not just because if the sheer quaity of the training, but mostly because the exercise has not felt like somebody somewhere was ticking boxes in a spreadsheet to say they had sent me to this training or that seminar, even when most of it has ultimately been a waste of time for myself and many others on the register. So yes, the content of this training has been top notch, but honestly, I don't think there are many trainers out there that are better than Trina Brady.”
