“The purchasing is easy and quick. It is a little weird that the process involved multiple websites and I understood that ServerTastic is a reseller. So that is fine.
I got the certificate in a zip file, which is very nice. That is all I needed to set up a website for web access.
However, to get Android to get to the site, a chained certificate, which is not included, is needed. Since my other certificates I previously bought already had the chains in the certificates, it got a little tedious to run around to find out how I could generate the right certificate for Android to be happy. Mind you, the Android web browser was okay with the certificate, but my Android mobile app did not. All the documentation I found was for Windows. I am on Linux.
After I got the chained certificate generated from somewhere else, it all worked correctly.
So, it would be nice if the chained certificate was included, so that I did not have to figure out what to do with the weird Android error.
Over all, it did not take me much time to set up everything.”
“I bought a certificate for a client of ours. It would have been better if I could do it as reseller but I don't agree with the credit things. A few years ago we were reseller but the credit solution was very inconvenient for us.”
“Wasn't very straightforward on how to generate a CSR from Windows Machine, plus I've missed several descriptions like "Locality" and needed to generate CSR one more time.
In the end there was no PFX file so I couldn't import the certificate directly into Azure.
That meant I needed to execute a few other commands with openssl that I'd need to google. I was terrified that my private key was nowhere to find, in the end found out how to extract it from MMC.
So not a very straightforward experience with creating an SSL certificate.”
Thank you for your review. The process of creating an SSL certificate is different for every system and therefore you often have to locate instructions for the specific system you are using. We also provide a range of tools that can help with CSR generation and conversion of the certificate to formats such as PFX. These are available here https://tools.servertastic.com
