About The Red Dog Company:

The Red Dog Company was born out of the quest for well-designed, high-quality, dog beds and accessories.

Our dogs work hard, whether in the field, or exercising the children. When they’re not out and about, the chances are they are in their beds, so it seems only fair to make them as comfortable as possible.

Nick and Chris are field sports enthusiasts, and self-confessed gear obsessives.

“Our 2 dogs love their beds. We bought them August 2022. Service very efficient. Down side :- They shed sheepskin fluff for months. one dog has worn 2 holes in one mattress cover”

Dear Clair, Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback, it is much appreciated. I'm glad your dogs love their Beds, but very disappointed that one of your mattress covers has two holes in it. Because our toppers are made with 100% wool, the fibres vary slightly in length. This is similar to when a new wool carpet is first laid, so it is not unusual for them to shed wool initially, especially if your dog is a 'nester'. The wool fleece toppers are tough and we have supplied thousands, it is almost unheard of to see damage to the topper in normal use - so this is clearly unacceptable. We stand by our Built to Last Guarantee, which is why we sent you a replacement mattress cover on the day you reported the issue. I am very sorry for the inconvenience, and hope this resolves the matter to your satisfaction. All the best Nick

“I’m not totally happy with the look of my dogs new collar. It’s very stiff and doesn’t look like a top quality collar. Because it’s so shiny, it looks like a plastic collar. Perhaps I chose the wrong colour. I tried it on my dog so I can’t return it anymore. I wish I returned it straight away.”

Dear Lucie, Thanks you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are really sorry that you are not pleased with your collar. The Stirrup leather you chose, comes from a Yorkshire based Master Saddler, and I can assure you is top quality English Bridle Leather. All our leather products are made by E Jefferies, world renowned saddlers, who have been producing a quality product since 1820. I agree that they can appear stiff when new, but they quickly become much more supple. Similarly the finish will age beautifully if looked after properly. We only want delighted customers, so if you are not reassured by my comments, please return the collar to us for a refund. Regards Nick

“I’m disappointed to give anything but a 5 star review here, because the workmanship and quality of the lead is excellent. It will undoubtedly last well, is very strong and extremely well made. The main issue is that the material used is so rough and this unfortunately makes the lead unusable. After less than a week the leads have been retired because they are so painful to hold if your dog pulls at all. It even grazed my hand and both my wife and I cannot use them. It is also a little short in my opinion. Maybe splicing in a soft rope or leather handle would solve the problem. Service was excellent and the leads were delivered very quickly and nicely packaged.”

I wanted a lead that would be durable, strong, and beautifully made; whilst still being compact enough to fit unobtrusively into one’s pocket. Inevitably there is a compromise between ‘toughness’ and ‘softness’ and I’m sorry that our lead doesn’t suit your requirements.
