“I have had the best time on the Big 5 Conservation programme in South Africa - it has been such an enriching experience and I have made friends to last a lifetime! Alex at Pod Volunteer has been so helpful and kind, sorting everything out to ensure my trip went smoothly and that I had an amazing time! Thank you so much!”

“My daughter signed up with Pod Volunteers doing turtle conservation in Kefalonia as part of her Duke of Edinburgh award. From the moment we signed up Alex was fantastic with his communication, keeping us up to date and making sure we knew what we needed to do & what my daughter could expect. All went as arranged, she was left in their safe hands for a week & she had an absolutely amazing time. She came back full of stories, brilliant experiences and a bunch of new friends. I cannot thank Alex and the team enough - what a fantastic opportunity!”

“Absolutely fantastic trip! Thanks to Alex & the other leaders for giving our son the best time in Kefalonia. Very well organised, our kids were in very good hands & our son loved every second. I felt very relaxed as I knew he was safe & looked after, made memories to last a lifetime! Thank you!”

“My son had the most amazing time. This is a memory he wil talk about for the rest of his life. I would highly recommend POD volunteering, I was worried with my son only being just 17. Absolutely no need. The communication with Alex was superb from start to finish. Thank you everyone for making this such a truly fantastic experience.”

“Had the best time my expectations went through the roof and saw so many more turtles than I thought! I went by myself and met the most lovely people in such a good group and have made friends for life. All the leaders were absolutely lovely and so so kind and I’ll definitely never forget this trip”

“My daughter has had a passion for sea turtles for as long as I can remember so when we saw this trip it seemed perfect, I was very wary of her going off on a plane on her own but the communication with POD was brilliant, they met her at the airport and she loved every second of the trip, learning without feeling she was being preached too, all the staff and other kids made her feel so welcome and she's already planning on going back when she turns 18. I was pleased to get her home and all she's wished is she's back out there. 10/10”

“What an amazing and eye-opening trip! Everyone i met was so welcoming and friendly. Taking this trip for pure personal passion really helped open my eyes to see more of the beautiful world around me by wildlife sense and POD volunteer. I hope that if anyone else has the same dreams to help the world or pursue a future job in helping wildlife they also start their journey here.”

“So amazing! Gemma was really easy to get in touch with and provided answers to all questions asked! Only feedback is that some information about timings for electricity were slightly off. I might have read it wrong but I though there would be power whenever it was sunny due to the solar panels, however that is in regard to the WiFi. The power/ electricity is only on from 7-9pm on Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sun (and 7-9pm everyday that there are tourists there). This didn’t hugely impact my trip but if I’d known, I would have brought a second power bank.”

I'm sorry that your confusion regarding the WiFi and electricity, I'll ensure that our information is clearer for future volunteers. “This was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience! From the educational presentations, to the practical harbour and snorkel surveys, to the sleepover on the beach, it was all meticulously planned and executed. The volunteer leaders are knowledgable, enthusiastic, and great with kids. It was a fantastic mix and in a great location. Our family learned so much about turtles and conservation work and have memories to cherish for a lifetime. I highly recommend this experience!”

“We had an absolutely wonderful experience volunteering with the turtle conservation programme in Kefalonia. It was one of the highlights of our holiday and something we will remember for a very long time. The whole experience was incredibly well organised, welcoming and genuinely meaningful. The volunteers were knowledgeable, passionate and generous with their time, and they made us feel part of the conservation work rather than simply observers. We learned so much about Kefalonia’s sea turtles, their nesting behaviour, the challenges they face and the practical work being done to protect them. For our children, it was particularly special. They were able to experience conservation in a very real and hands-on way, while also having enormous fun. Watching them become so interested in the turtles, the beaches and the wider marine environment was wonderful. It gave them a connection to wildlife and conservation that no classroom lesson could quite replicate. There was also something magical about being out on the beaches of Kefalonia, surrounded by beautiful scenery, knowing that the work we were doing was helping to protect these extraordinary animals. The combination of nature, learning, adventure and a lovely sense of community made the experience truly memorable. We came away with a much deeper appreciation of sea turtles and of the dedication required to protect them. I would wholeheartedly recommend this experience to families and anyone visiting Kefalonia who wants to do something meaningful, interesting and a little different during their holiday. An unforgettable experience and a huge thank you to everyone involved.”
