“Hi, I’m a local doctor in Barrowford. I ordered a kitchen from KDC in September last year. I paid an advanced payment of £8000. Due to unforeseen domestic & occupational circumstances, I had to cancel the contract several months before and work was due to begin. Since then, I have not received any payment back. The contract contained no cancellation sub clause and no Force Major sub clause. Despite multiple requests, I have received no substantiation of any amount of loss, whatsoever. An offer of £2000 is insulting and derisory. The reasons for cancellation were beyond my control and months in advance of any work being started. I’m just making people aware of the extremely “sharp practice”, that this business peddles. Please do not make advanced payments to this company, as you are highly unlikely to receive you money back, in an acceptable & fair time.”
We take all customer feedback seriously; however, we do need to clarify a number of factual inaccuracies in this review.
The order was for a bespoke kitchen that had already been manufactured and delivered to our warehouse, with an installation date agreed. The client postponed the installation less than 10 days before the scheduled start date and then, approximately one month later, requested cancellation of the entire order—rather than “several months” in advance as stated.
As a company, we made efforts to understand the circumstances and offered a solution as a gesture of goodwill, despite the significant costs already incurred. Unfortunately, this offer was declined, and we were instead asked to return the full deposit unconditionally.
We remain committed to treating all customers fairly and transparently and are always willing to engage constructively to reach a reasonable resolution.
“We contacted the Blackburn (Brownhill) showroom and Lou came out (4/4/25) and chatted to us and measured up. Initially we were really excited. We had two companies that had designed for us and kitchen design centre were our front runners. After looking through the design with Lou and getting a rough price, we made an appointment for Jack, the builder to come round. He could only do a Monday so we cancelled our daughters swimming and waited. He didn’t show and ignored our calls. We complained to KDC who apologised and we made another appt with him. Again he didn’t show. I rang Lou but she was not in. I was told she would call on the 8/7. She didn’t. I then called Lou again on (12/7) and she apologised and said she would speak to Jack again and call me on the 15/7. I am yet to hear from her two weeks later.”
We are very sorry to hear about the missed appointments and the communication issues you've encountered. This is certainly not the level of service we aim to provide.
We are currently reviewing what went wrong in this instance. While Jack is a self-employed builder and not employed directly by Kitchen Design Centre, we understand that his actions reflect on your overall experience with us. Unfortunately, a combination of staff holidays and illness also contributed to the communication breakdown during this period, for which we apologise.

“Called kitchen design in Woolton because we wanted to use a local company. They came out measured gave us all sorts of ideas for space saving solutions because our kitchen isn’t very big. All sounded great. The guy said he’d come back to us in a few days, not heard another thing from them, that was about two months ago.
I’ve chased them once and was promised a call back with quote and still waiting.

“We went to kitchen design centre where we were dealt with Chris Lunt. He seemed great but has just rung us to tell us he has cancelled our appointment as he hasn’t got our design ready!! The excuse was they have had a lot of customers come through the door!! My advice don’t take on any more customers if you cannot get the work you have on done!! Obviously to big a company to actually care about the individual!! STAY AWAY!!”
