“Just what it says on the tin - low cost, simple to use online training. This is ideal for people who already have a grounding in the subject and want to formalise this. Perhaps the online version is less effective for people who have no prior knowledge though.”

“Easy to organise and arrange the course. Course content was good and well presented - the test at the end of each section helped make me aware of my understanding. The Personal Commitment part was harder to complete - quite generic, maybe better to have one area with more in depth analysis.”

“The enrolling process for the IOSH "Managing Safely" course was easy to follow and I was up and running in no time at all. The training material provided for the course was set out in an easy to follow itinerary which ensured you completed each module before moving onto the next. The "templates" provided in the exercises have proven to be useful. I was expecting a few more question on the mock exams but they did provide you with a flavour for the type of question that were in the final assessment.”

“The online system was reasonably easy to navigate but occasionally difficult to get back to the home screen. The slide shows would benefit from them indicating their length so the learner can judge the time required to complete them. There are some grammar issues in the final exam.”

Many thanks for your feedback. We'll take a look at your comments in more detail during the next design review for that course. But to answer some of the points you raise... (1) Getting back to the home screen should be a simple case of closing the window that pops-up with the slide show in it. (2) We'll take a look at including something to indicate how long it is likely to complete each module. (3) We have to use the precise wording of the official questions / answers set by IOSH in the final exam. In light of your comment we'll take another look and see if it is something we can raise with IOSH.

“I was really impressed with the service from HSQE. Sam was very helpful and the website was easy to use. The information provided was clearly explained and well laid out. I do feel that the information regarding the risk assessments could have been a little more in depth. I would recommend HSQE Ldt to others.”

“The course was easy to follow and great you could complete it in your own time. There were a couple of small spelling errors in the literature and to get back to a point you'd left if you'd been logged out, I found I had to click through all the slides again. Other than that it was very easy follow and I thought the mock tests were really useful. I got my certificate really quickly too. Thank you!”

“I found the online interface easy to navigate and the information supplied simple and effective. In regards to the actual IOSH course, the layout was good and the breakdown of the sections worked well. I did find, only on a couple of occasions, some of the information was poorly written with poor grammar or punctuation which made it difficult to understand. Although on the whole it was very good. I do think the "Noise Hazzard" section of IOSH Managing Safely could definitely do with rewriting as I had to do further outside research to understand it due to the lack of explanation in its detail. However it was a fast and effective way of gaining my qualification, and covered all the relevant information in a clear format. I would definitely recommend HSQE training to anyone (individuals or companies) as an effective teaching and qualification method, and I would look to use them again to further my qualifications.”

Many thanks for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated. You’ve raised some interesting points and rest assured, we will look at them further when we have our next design review for the course. Getting the balance right between providing too much or too little information is a difficult one for us to get right. As having provided the core information required by the syllabus, how much more information to add to further explain the topic is largely a matter of individual opinion. You’ll see from our previous feedback that for everyone that says there is too little information, there are others that say it is just right, or even that there is too much information. You made specific reference to the noise section in the common hazards module. Interestingly, that is one where we’ve added information beyond what the syllabus requires. We will look again though in light of your comments. Thank you once again. Your comments are valued as they help us to improve.
